Monza, February 26th 2017
Mission accomplished in Brianza for Diatec Trentino. Thanks to the 3-0 win in the away match in Monza, that means twenty-first victory in twenty-six championship matches, the yellow-blue team ended the regualr season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 at the second place; Sir Safety Conad Perugia remained at the third place because of a worse set difference.
It is a great result for Lorenzetti's team, that will guarantee some advantages in the Play Off, like playing one match more in front of their supporters not only in the quarter-finals but also in the possible semifinal. In the first heat, that will start in a week at PalaTrento, Lanza and his teammates will play again against Gi Group, who already knows on Saturday that it will end the season at the seventh place. The first of four potential matches between the two teams, played today, was won by the yellow-blue thanks to their attack- (great 62% as team attack) and block-phase, helped also by a good defense. The high percentage in attack and paying attention in defense allowed Diatec Trentino to control the pace of the game, speeding up when was necessary: with Van de Voorde (10 points with 70%, two blocks and an ace) in the first set, with Urnaut and Lanza (both in double figures and Pippo with 75% in attack) in the second set, and with Giannelli in the third who made 4 blocks and therefore was awarded MVP.
Here following the score-sheet of the twenty-fifth match of the regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 played tonight at Palazzetto dello Sport in Monza.
