Trento, 19th February 2017
It is matter of prestige and mainly of ranking. Diatec Trentino can still aim for the second place in the final ranking of regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, after conquering the whole stake in the 66th “derby of A22” that the team played in a quite perfect and spectacular way. By defeating Azimut Modena by 3-0 in front of its supporters, Diatec Trentino confirmed its position in the current ranking, even before knowing the result of Perugia’s match and at the same time it cancelled the mediocre game of Civitanova. As has already occurred earlier on the previous fourteen home matches of regular season, home advantage has made the difference once again; after Perugia, Civitanova and Verona, another team aiming for the first places in the ranking left three points at the building in via Fersina, that registered sold-out on this occasion. The team from Modena, the last one that obtained a victory in Trentino last April 25th, competed head-to-head with Trento in the first two sets, but soon they had to give up during the third set. The home team showed more mental clarity and aggressiveness in the clue moments of the match; Lanza was very efficient in servicing (4 aces), aggressive in attacking (47%) and Nelli was constant in the attacking and blocking phase (13 points with 55%): in this way the team trained by Lorenzetti conquered the first two sets and by 2-0 it fully controlled the match. Besides the service, successful on 7 occasions out of 9, the contribution in the blocking phase and the intensity showed in defending were outstanding. A deserved and unforgettable victory, also because, thanks to the replacement of Urnaut by Tiziano Mazzone, Lorenzetti has fielded for long periods of time four players that has trained and grown in the youth sector of this team.
