The Del Monte® SuperCup is back in Modena’s PalaPanini arena. And there will be a new formula with four teams fighting for the trophy while in the past it was a single game between league and cup winners. Modena will therefore host this first competition as SuperLega winner 2016. Their last season had begun as well as it had ended, with the SuperCup triumph.
"I am thrilled to announce the opening of the new season in such a historical volleyball city like Modena – said Italian League president, Paola De Micheli – The SuperCup is a great competition in Italy but it is also a World class event. Many players who will take part are currently competing in the Olympic Games".
Modena won the event twice, including last season’s thrilling tie-break victory over Trentino. The later won it twice two (2011, 2013) and will be among the participants. The others are Civitanova, four-time winner, and Perugia, who will make its full debut in this event.
The four clubs will battle it out on the tricolor Mondo court with the Mikasa MVA 200 ball. And the games will be under the watchful eyes of the Video Check System.
The final will be broadcasted live on RAI Sport and by tenth of foreign channels.
