It was a morning of close contact with the student world for Angelo Lorenzetti. The Coach of Diatec Trentino spoke as rapporteur at the meeting organized by the students of the Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico Buonarroti–Pozzo di Trento about sport in general and particularly about his professional role. Also the Coach of Aquila Basket Maurizio Buscaglia spoke and there were also some interesting and entertaining debates between them during the hours lesson.
“I like training more and more because it makes me age positively, keep in touch with young people, forces me to be updated to relate with them properly and makes me work on myself – the coach from Marche admitted, during his first season in Trento - . In a world that keeps changing and where the need of being on social networks is strong, I think that players feel more the need of being supported than being ruled in their carrier credo. Therefore we need to know how to listen and relate better, creating a constructive debate with them. Communication is fundamental; I focus on the fact that relation is action: the choices before the match are responsibility of the coach, but during the match the choices are responsibility of the player. Once sport was considered only an hobby, a waste of time; today fortunately it’s not as it was anymore. People put even more attention on this sector, which can be useful to personal growth as any element useful for it. For this reason, no matter the results, sport must have the aim of carrying on its important values”.
“The defeat is a part of the game, our job, and it is surely a important moment of my profession because if assimilate correctly it allows you to grow – Lorenzetti added - . It has to be analyzed very well, considering facts not judgments. You must avoid to be negative or believe only to statistic because they never tell everything about a match. An American coach says joking that statistics are like bikinis: show a lot but cover the essential parts. From the defeats emerges a much deeper relationship between players and staff, a more responsible relationship. If I have to give an advice to those who want to play sports at high levels, I would say to them to understand if their inspiration is real or given by others. The talent of a plyers has to be recognized and supported, but it has also to be free: those who have talent usually can predict game actions and situations that others can’t and for this reason in a certain way they can also teach something to the coach. Giannelli has an extraordinary talent, my job is to help him trying not to damage him. To those who ask me who is better between Simone o Bruninho, I’ll answer that comparisons are always wrong and often misleading but also that anyway I’m a lucky person: I was able to train both”.
