This afternoon in Video Room in PalaTrento a press conference took place to present the 2017 CEV Cup; the first match is scheduled on Wednesday at 8:30pm in PalaTrento against Tours Vb, while return match will take place on Saturday in France.
“We are aware of the fact that it’s not a Champions League final, but we will play it at our best because the fans and the society showed so much passion and enthusiasm and I, personally, have never won an international trophy - explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti-. After winning match 3 against Perugia we are in a great state of mind; sure, we must not look back, only think about the present, but we’re feeling good and very motivated. We will face a team that got third in the French League and is constantly improving; it’s a tough opponent, with a great Italian coach Medei, who gave his team a new way of playing. They are good at defending, also because of the presence of Henno, they play a great side-out, but are also precise when blocking and serving. Playing the first match at home will be unknown, because an eventual golden set will take place in France, but that’s not always an advantage. Anyway, we only need to think about the first match for the moment, otherwise we’ll waste too much energy. I hope the home fans can give us an extra boost, just like against Sastamala, when we were one set under. Sadly the european competitions are usually snubbed by the fans, because of the high level of SuperLega and the emotions it gives the fans; hopefully not this time”.
