Modena, October 23rd, 2015
It officially starts tomorrow night, Saturday, October 24th, the 2015/16 season for the Italian volleyball club, immediately assigning the first trophy: the Del Monte® Italian Super Cup 2015. The competition, which confronts the winner of the championship to the Italian Cup the year 2015, it will be played by the hosts of DHL Modena and the Diatec Trentino in a challenge that has already won the last two finals Italian (Italian Cup and Championship). The match is scheduled to PalaPanini at 8.30 pm: broadcasted live on RAI Sport 1 and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The first official match of the new agonistic year, the sixteenth of the Yellow-blues Company, it begins at very same place where the last one ended (at PalaPanini) and against the same opponent (Modena), which in 2015 between the regular season, the Italian Cup and PlayOff Championship has often given birth to big games from all points of view.
In this case there is at stake the Italian Super Cup, trophy which Trentino Volley have already won twice in its history (the last in 2013), although the team doesn’t have such a special feeling. To try to get another title for your bulletin board and start the adventure in the best way with the league title again on the chest, the World Champions will try to put a spoke in the wheels to the hosts.
"With just two days of preparation with the complete team, it becomes difficult to see how we will face this commitment” - says the coach Radostin Stoytchev -. “The Del Monte® Super Cup 2015 comes very soon, then it will definitely be a challenge that will offer even a few cues from the technical and tactical perspective, and instead will rely heavily about competitiveness that players will have on the field. However, we will do our best to try to win this trophy, which would allow us to open the season immediately with a smile."
In view of this appointment the Bulgarian coach, who opens tomorrow his eighth season as coach of Trento, must verify the conditions of the pair of regular spikers Lanza-Urnaut, who didn’t play for physical problems of various kinds during the friendly game on Thursday evening against Verona, lost for 3-2. Some answers could come as early in the evening today, when the team will have the first workout with the ball for about an hour and a half in PalaPanini.
In the Yellow-blues rows, only five players are the ones, who can claim one or more participations in the Italian Super Cup: Colaci is the record holder with four appearances and two victories, the same that got Lanza but with only three appearances. One Super Cup has been played (and won) also by Djuric, Solé and Urnaut. This is the first time ever for everyone else.
PREVIOUSLY Despite Modena is by far the opponent that Trentino Volley has challenged many times in its history (54 official games - 33 victories and 21 defeats), the match of tomorrow will be the first ever that the two companies will play as opposite in the Del Monte® Italian Super Cup. In 2015, however, only the comparison Trento-Modena was very frequent; in the first ten months of the current calendar year in fact, the challenges in the archive are already six (four played only in Emilia, considering also the Italian Cup final played in Bologna), with a balance that sees Trentino ahead for 4-2 especially thanks to the two victories got in PalaPanini: 1-3 (24-26, 18-25, 24-26, 25-17) on March 21st in the match valid for the second round of the regular season, 0-3 ( 24-26, 20-25, 19-25) on May 13th, in the race that gave the championship to Stoytchev’s team. Also in Play Off Championship 2015 last home victory of Modena: on May 6th, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 26-24). Trentino Volley won at the Emilian facility for twelve occasions in a total of 26 matches played.
REFEREES Fabrizio Pasquali (Ascoli Piceno) and Stefano Cesare (Rome) whistles will direct the meeting. A very experienced couple, considering that Pasquali is in Serie A since 1997 and internationally since 2004 (he directed the recent European Championship final in 2015), while Santi is the role since 1999 and internationally since 2010. Both have fairly recent past compared to the challenges Trento-Modena: Pasquali whistled in the Italian Cup final in 2015 in Bologna (January 11th) and in the second race of the championship final (only win of the series for the Emilian, 3-1 at PalaPanini on May 6th, 2015), while Cesare arbitrated the race of the regular season 2014/15 played at PalaTrento (3-0 for the hosts) and the third match of the championship final (on May 10th, 3-0 victory for the Trentino at PalaTrento).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The match will be a global media event. It will be broadcasted live on RAI Sport 1, present both on DTT and on Sky TV, channel 227, with the commentary in the care of Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; the match will also be available in video and audio streaming on the web, at www.raisport.rai.it/dl/raisport/multimedia/diretta.html, and will count upon an intercontinental exposure (18 nations connected) thanks to the programmed live broadcastings by Sportsklub, Canal+ Deportes, Sports Tv, Bein Sport Arabia, Bein Sport Usa, Bein Sport France.
