Betim (Brazil), October 19th 2016
Diatec Trentino begins its adventure of the Club World Championship 2016 in Betim with a victory. The European vice-champion has inaugurated its seventh participation in the Club world tournament winning 3-0 against the home team Minas Tenis Clube; a success that makes it possible to get closer to the semi-finals of Saturday October 22nd, but the qualification needs to be confirmed in the two following matches against the Argentinian teams.
The debut in Brazil has been very positive in several aspects; the game philosophy can rely on an incisive service but with many fouls and it didn’t give Minas (except for a pause in the final part of the first and the third set) the possibility of counterattacking.
Stokr, Urnaut, Lanza (best scorer with 13 points and 65%) and Van de Voorde, who played in place of Daniele Mazzone from the very beginning, put the opponents under pressure often creating important breaks respectively with service, attack and block. This was what they needed in order to intimidate Minas without giving it the possibility of playing on a level playing field.
Here following the scoresheet of tonight’s match at Ginasio Poliesportivo Divino Braga from first turn of Pool B.
