Betim (Brazil), October 22nd 2016

The race of Diatec Trentino in 2016 Club World Cup stops to the semi-finals: European champion, Zenit Kazan, wins the match. Once again the Russians are to prevent Diatec Trentino from running for a further triumph in the international field; unlike the match in Krakow, when the Italian team won the Champions League, this time Alekno's team dominated the scene during most of the game, leaving very little space for the opponents.
Thanks to the success in three sets, Zenit flies to the final, where it will face the winner of the second semi-final between Bolivar and Sada Cruzeiro. To Lorenzetti's boys remains the game that awards the third place in the tournament (on Saturday afternoon at 6.00 p.m), which will offer an important opportunity to get back on the podium three years after the last time. Against an opponent that has proven highly effective in all fundamentals (60% attack, 8 blocks and 5 aces), Diatec Trentino tried not to back down, fighting until the end, as requested by the coach; but in the end only the second set proved to be really fought, in which the comeback attempt of the yellow-blues (from 18-21 to 22-22) was negated by a double attack from Mikhailov. The Zenit Kazan opposite along with the Russian spiker Anderson were the main problem for Diatec Trentino that appeared really weak in reception and service. The last two to give up have been Urnaut (best scorer with 12 points and 50% net points) and Lanza (10 points with 53% of attacks), but the low number of blocks (only 2) condemned Diatec Trentino.
