The report of the match. The starting six of Diatec Trentino is the same that played last game versus Minas twenty-five hours ago: Giannelli plays as setter, Stokr in the opposite role, Lanza and Urnaut as spikers, Solé and Van de Voorde as middle-blockers and Colaci as libero.
Bolivar plays with Chirivino as setter, Edgar as opposite, Aleksiev and Almeida as spikers, Gauna and Crer will play at the center of the net and Gonzalez as libero.
The match starts very well for the yellow-blues, who immediately gets to 4-1 thanks to a couple of errors from the opponents and a block from Giannelli on Almeida.
Weber asks for a time-out, but when the match restarts, a counterattack from Lanza and an ace from Gianelli allow Diatec Trentino to get to +5 (7-2).
Stokr is on fire and defend the team advantage with some side-outs (9-4 and then 12-7); this way the Argentines are struggling to find any idea and, indeed, still allow Diatec Trentino to get more advantage, striking out with Aleksiev and making themselves blocked by Solé (block on Edgar). On 14-7 for Diatec Trentino, Bolivar has already used up all of its time-outs and won his very first break point of the evening with a block from Gauna on Solé. The South Americans try to raise the defensive level, but Lorenzetti's team doesn’t back down (19-14) and restarts their march (23-16) towards the conquest of the first set, which comes already on the 25-18.
The start of the second set is identical to the first one: Diatec Trentino quickly gets to 5-1 with two attacks from a very good Lanza and a perfect service from Giannelli (direct ace). Weber prefers Ocampo instead of Almeida in starting six of this set, but Ocampo attacks out and forces the coach to call the first time out on 7-2. Back on the court, Edgar and Chirivino (block on Urnaut) try to get closer to Trento, but Urnaut himself scores two aces making everyone forgive his previous mistake. The central part of the match is easily controlled by Lanza and his mates, and the advantage (16-9) is preserved by regular attack-defense phase as well as many breakpoints. Argentinians go for it and Guana blocks Lanza, score says 18-15. Lorenzetti calls a time-out to calm things down and at first Giannelli brings the team closer to another victory, but Ocampo gets going, blocks Lanza and scores an ace (21-20). The Captain struggles to attack and Bolivar overtakes (22-23); it’s a final rush. Bolivar wins the set 23-25 thanks to a lucky call at the Challenge after Stokr touched the net while blocking Edgar.
The previous set doesn’t leave consequences in the Trentino players, and the beginning of the third set follows into the previous footsteps, with great plays from Stokr and Solè (7-2), A lucky ace from Solè and a fantastic attack from Urnaut allows Trento to dig a gap. It is only temporarily, though, because two consecutive mistakes (Giannelli and newly entered Daniele Mazzone) and a block from Ocampo on Urnaut equalize the result on 12-10. Again, after Lorenzetti’s time out, Trento takes the lead (16-11) and Bolivar makes many mistakes. Yellow-blues are fast learners and don’t allow the opponents to get any closer (18-12), keeping a high intensity pace (21-13) with Stokr blocks and Lanza’s serve. Mazzone scores the last point with a centre attack (25-17).
In the fourth set the teams advance point-by-point (5-5); a counterattack of Edgar and an error of Stokr enables Bolivar to take the lead (6-8). Antonov takes the place of Urnaut, but Bolivar still has a 2-point lead over Diatec Trentino (9-11). Then Solé scores two points (attack and block, 12-11) and Mazzone scores another point (block, 14-12). Lanza and Stokr find other breaks (18-14); this is the decisive moment and Lanza secures the victory for Diatec Trentino (21-16. 23-18). The Yellow-blue team wins the set for 25-19 after a service error of Bolivar.
