Frenchman Théo Faure is the new opposite for Itas Trentino

The reigning Italian champions Itas Trentino have wrapped up their men's team’s summer transfer campaign with their final—and most anticipated—addition, a move that completes the yellow-blue squad and makes it even more competitive and future-focused.
For the next two seasons, French opposite hitter Théo Faure, current Olympic gold medalist, will wear the Trentino jersey. Born in Pessac on October 12, 1999, Faure arrives in Trento following a two-year stint at Cisterna di Latina, where he showcased all his key attributes. No player has scored more points than he has over the past two regular seasons: 790 points in 44 matches, a haul that earned him the top scorer title in his SuperLega debut season (2023/24) and a spot in the top five the following year.
Faure’s main strengths are power, consistency, and well-roundedness, as evidenced by his impressive attacking efficiency (49%), 64 blocks, and 73 aces recorded during his time in Lazio. He faced Trentino Volley nine times during those seasons, scoring an outstanding 152 points just in those clashes. In Trento, Faure brings not only his physicality but also rich international experience, which he has built up steadily since 2021 when he became a regular on the French national team, winning three titles. In the current VNL tournament, he ranks third among scorers, with 137 points in his first eight matches.
"Trentino Volley has achieved great success recently, but also in the past, which speaks to its truly important tradition," said Théo Faure on the day of his official arrival in Trento. "Wearing this jersey means a lot to my career, and I want to give everything I have to deserve this opportunity. Playing with the Scudetto on my chest will fill me with pride and responsibility—I’ll do everything I can to defend it to the best of my ability, and I truly believe this is the right place for me to give my best. I come here after two great seasons in Cisterna, which helped me better understand the Italian league and allowed me to compete in the Scudetto Playoffs last season, precisely against Trento. Starting next season, I’ll be back playing in the Champions League—an experience I had in the past with Toulouse and Montpellier, but only for a few matches and without fully understanding the context I was in. I have a strong bond with European competitions because I see them as a launching pad for my career."
“Théo Faure is an international-level opposite, one of the most well-rounded players in the world in his position,” emphasized Marcelo Mendez, the new head coach of Trentino Volley. “He’ll make a big impact right away, and over time his contribution can become even more significant. We’re talking about an athlete with tremendous potential for growth, who already brings two years of top-level experience in the Italian league.”
He will wear jersey number 11, a number previously worn by other prominent players in his position such as Giombini, Nikolov, Sokolov, and Rychlicki, of whom Faure is seen as the natural successor. He will also become the fourth French player in Trentino Volley's history, following Herpe (outside hitter, played for Trentino between 2009 and 2010), Grebennikov (libero, with the team from 2018 to 2020), and Garcia (setter, who joined for the final stretch of the 2024 season).
