Trento, October 16th 2016

The countdown for Fivb Club World Championship 2016 has reached nearly zero, the yearly edition of the Club World Championship organized by the international federation in Brazil – in Betim – one more time, after the last three experiences. The event starts on Tuesday, October 18th with the first matches of the group stage: Diatec Trentino, winner of four editions between 2009 and 2012, will play the first match only on the second day (Wednesday 19th), taking part in the fifth match of the competition against the home team Minas Tenis Clube (first match of the Pool B). Here the main information of the tournament.

GAME FORMULA
It’s the same as the previous six editions Trentino volley took part in: in Doha (Qatar) between 2009 and 2012, in Betim in 2013 and in Belo Horizonte in 2014. The eight teams, representing three of the five continents (Only North America and Oceania will be missing), will be divided in the first phase into two rounds (Pool A and Pool B) with four teams each, which will confront each other between October 18th and 22th in a Round Robin (only first rounds), for a total of 12 matches. The first two classified in each round will play the semi-final (scheduled on October 22th, the finals scheduled on the following day). The third and fourth teams will be directly eliminated and will be classified equal in the fifth place. The allocation of points will be like the Italian one: three points for the victory at least in four sets, two points for the victory at the tiebreak and a point for the defeat at the fifth set, but the first discriminating will be the number of victories. If two teams have the same number of victories in the final rank of the round, they will take into account in this order: number of points, set quotient, points quotient, head-to-head match. The rank with head-to-head results will be drafted only in case of three or four teams with equal points.

COMPOSITION OF THE ROUNDS OF THE FIRST PHASE

Pool A
Sada Cruzeiro (Brazil – south America, reigning Champion), Zenit Kazan (Russia, Europe Champion), Tachung Bank VC (Taipei, Asian Champion), Tala Ea El Geish (Egypt, African Champion).
Pool B
Minas Tenis Clube (Brazil – South America, hosting team), UPCN San Juan (Argentina – South America, wild card), Diatec Trentino (Italy – Europe, wild card), Bolivar (Argentina – South America, wild Card).

MEDIA

TV

It will be Fox Sports HD to broadcast Diatec Trentino matches in the 2016 World Club Championship.

The popular sports channel, which can be found at number 204 on the remote control for Sky platform, has in fact assured the television rights for the World Club Championship event and will broadcast, just as happened for the last Champions League, all Diatec Trentino games.

In the first phase it will be space for the matches versus Minas Tenis Clube (Wednesday, October 19th) and UPCN (in the night between Friday 21st and Saturday, October 22nd) and for a little deferred coverage for the match against Bolivar on Thursday, October 20th (22:45).

If the team from Trentino had to pass the first stage, then Fox Sports HD will also broadcast the semi-finals and finals- already scheduled on Saturday 22nd evening and Sunday, October 23rd. The match will be told by the expert commentator Stefano Locatelli, one of the most famous voices of Sky Sports, and the commentator Andrea Zorzi.

RADIO

There won't be any radio coverage for Italy for the first phase of the tournament.

In case of qualification for the semi-finals, Radio Dolomiti (network partner of Trentino Volley for eight years) will follow the match which will involve Diatec Trentino and the eventual final for the fist place. All frequencies to listen to the regional network are available on the home page of the team website, www.trentinovolley.it , while on www.radiodolomiti.com will be available a live streaming radio commentary by accessing the “On Air” section.

Internet

The adventure of Diatec Trentino will be followed step by step on the website of the Club www.trentinovolley.it and on the official profiles of the Social Networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube); there will be the results and the match comments and a daily journal with pictures, interviews and curiosities. All the information about the matches will also appear in a special session reserved for the event on the FIVB website http://clubworldchampionships.2016.men.fivb.com/en .
