It will be played tomorrow, on Sunday, March 13th, in Molfetta Game 2 of quarterfinal playoffs Championship UnipolSai 2016. Diatec Trentino will travel to Puglia for the third time this season to look for a new victory, that allow it to get closer to the semifinals qualification, being ahead 1-0 in the series that is articulated to the best of five games. The kick-off is scheduled at 5.00 pm: broadcasted live on RAI Sport 1 and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The final 3-0 victory in Game 1 allowed the Italian champions to start on the right foot their playoffs and watching then with more confidence to the new trip to Molfetta, where Stoytchev’s team will try to replicate what has been done on Thursday night to try to further direct the series.
"I think that Game 2 will be a very different game to the one played at PalaTrento just two days ago” - clarifies the coach Radostin Stoytchev -. “Molfetta is a team that has managed to put us in difficulty during this season and at home always plays its best volleyball. Despite the 1-0 in the series, we are perfectly aware that to get through the round we have to play better and be able to win even at PalaPoli where often in the past we suffered. We are not in the best conditions, we have to do without a couple of players, but I believe that with care, determination and the right concentration we can obtain an important result on this occasion”.
The Trentino training will reach Puglia today's evening, after having supported this morning a workout ball at PalaTrento. The coach can not count on the Bulgarian Djuric and De Angelis (for their physical problems they won’t even leave for Molfetta) but will have Colaci recovering from his one (likely Tiziano Mazzone is confirmed as his deputy with the jersey as libero) and especially Kaziyski, who proved to be decisive already on Thursday evening, well backed by Nelli and Urnaut. Captain Lanza will instead play the match and in all likelihood will often give the change in second line just to the spiker who just returned, as happened in the first game of the series.
Game 2 of the quarterfinals of the playoffs Championship UnipolSai 2016 will be the thirty-seventh game of the season for Trentino Volley: the budget is 27 victories and 9 defeats. The one of PalaPoli will be the match number 86 in Yellow-blues’ history in playoffs championship (55 victories, 30 defeats), the 41° of always in the quarterfinals. In previous thirteen participations of this board stage, Trento has won nine times the second game of the series.
PREVIOUSLY On Sunday will be played the sixth seasonal comparison, the twelfth of all time, between Molfetta and Trento, challenge that occurs regularly in just three league seasons. The budget is favorable to the Italian champions to 8-3, but two of the successes of Puglia have just arrived in the last fourteen months to PalaPoli, where Trentino Volley won only three of the five circumstances in which it was committed. In the playoffs Championship the two sides met in Puglia ever for a Game 2 of the quarterfinals even in the previous season with Trento’s victory in the fifth set (25-20, 22-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15 -10) on April 19th, 2015.
THE SERIES Diatec Trentino is ahead 1-0 in the quarter-final series, which is played to the best of five games, by virtue of the 3-0 accrued at PalaTrento in Game 1 on March 10th with a partial 25-21, 25-15, 25-20. On Sunday in Puglia Game 2, which could be the only one to play at PalaPoli only at two other victories of Stoytchev’s team between this meeting and the next one (Game 3) on Saturday, March 19th at PalaTrento (at 8.30 pm). If Exprivia wins one of the next two games, also Game 4 will be necessary, that it would be played again in Puglia on Sunday, March 27th at 6.00 pm. Who will pass the turn, will find in the semifinals (also this series will be the best of five games and will start on Saturday, April 9th) the winner of the fourth one Modena vs. Padova who sees the 1-0 forward from Emilia (Sunday Game 2 in Veneto). On the same day will also be played Game 2 of the quarterfinals of the upper part of the draw: Latina vs. Civitanova (0-1) and Perugia vs. Verona (1-0.)
REFEREES Game 2 will be directed by the well expert couple from marche of Vittorio Sampaolo (from Treia - Macerata, in Serie A since 1996 and internationally since 2003) and Fabrizio Pasquali (from Ascoli Piceno, in role since 1997 and internationally since 2004). The two referees are at their second joint leadership in the Super League UnipolSai 2015/16, the tenth overall for Sampaolo and the thirteenth for Pasquali, who is also the only one of the two to have refereed Diatec Trentino this season: twice at PalaPanini of Modena (lost at tie-break in the Italian Super Cup on October 24th and more victories in regular season in fifth on February 11th), and once at PalaTrento in a 3-1 victory against Monza on December 20th. The last cross between Sampaolo and Trentino Volley is even reported to January 6th, 2015 (success of Piacenza 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup).
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET Molfetta-Trento will be a global media event, broadcasted live on any type of media. On television will be broadcast by RAI Sport 1, visible on the digital terrestrial platform and on Sky on channel 227, with comment entrusted to Maurizio Colantoni and Claudio Galli.
