The second match of semifinal in UnipolSai 2017 Championship Play Off will be played tomorrow, Wednesday March 8th at the sport establishment of Monza. Diatec Trentino will face the away match in Brianza knowing that, in case of a victory, it will gain the access to the semifinals also because it already has reached 1-0 in the series which is based on the greatest played matches out of three. The match will begin at 8.30 p.m.: live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel, at this link www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The victory for 3-0, reached on Sunday evening in the first match of quarter finals, allowed the Yellow-blue formation to gain the first match ball necessary to enter for the ninth time in the last seasons the qualifications for the Play Off semifinals. Therefore, Lorenzetti’s team will try to close the circle in Monza and to earn a free match weekend – it happened only one time, on December 17th and 18th and in that case exclusively because the match against Sora was anticipated to Friday 16th.
“The first away match of the Championship Play Off has always been a particular moment– as Angelo Lorenzetti warns - . We will have to pay more attention than the one paid ten days earlier in Monza because our opponents will be more motivated and will have to take some riks in order to not end their path. We’ll have to have the right attitude and the correct approach since the first point of the match”.
The team from Trento will arrive in Monza this evening, after having trained with ball this afternoon at PalaTrento. Also for this occasion, the Technic from Marche will be able to count on all the fourteen players of the team.
The second match of the quarter finals of UnipolSai 2017 Championship will be the 43rd seasonal match of Trentino Volley: the balance sheet counts 33 victories and 9 defeats. The match in Monza will be also the 95th match on the Yellow-blue history in the Play Off Championship (59 victories, 35 defeats), the 46th in the quarter finals so far. In the last fourteenth participations to this Championship, Trentino Volley won ninth times the second match of the series.
THE OPPONENTS Gi Group Monza will play the most important home match of its history on Wednesday evening. The Club, which reached the maximum series just three seasons ago, has never before hosted a Play Off Championship match; this is a prestigious commitment that the team and the supporters want to experience at most, trying to get back the third tie break to PalaTrento. The formation of Falasca will try to reverse the match trend as in the last three matches it has never been able to win one set. The team will try to break into service (through which it has scored only four times in the last two matches) and to throw the ball as harder as they can, relying on Fromm, Vissotto and Verhees, the most efficient players on attack actions according to Sunday match at PalaTrento (same 56% at net for the three players).
PRECEDENTS On Wednesday, the ninth match between Vero Volley Monza and Trentino Volley will be played so far. It is a match that occurs regularly in Championship only since three seasons, but this year it has already been played four times. The balance sheet is positive exclusively for the Yellow-blue, capable to win all the eight precedents; Besides, Diatec Trentino lost only one set in three precedents at the sport establishment of Monza: the match won on October 28th 2015, thanks to 3-1 of Lanza and its team mates. The other two victories in Brianza were conquered through three sets: on December 26th 2014 and recently on February 26th 2017 with sets of 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 with Giannelli as mvp. Monza’s court is in favor of Volley, that has already played three matches against another team from Monza, Acqua Paradiso, already Montichiari, winning always for 3-1: on December 27th 2009, on January 30th 2011 and on January 8th 2012.
THE LEAGUE Diatec Trentino ahead 1-0 in the league of the best-of-three quarters, thanks to the 3-0 at PalaTrento on March 5th (25-15, 25-18, 25-18) in match 1. The match 2 is scheduled on Wednesday in Lombardia, and could be the last one if Trentino wins. The eventual match 3 will be played only if Monza wins and will be played in Trentino on Sunday, March 12th at 6 p.m. Who passes the turn and goes to the semifinals (best-of-five round that starts on Sunday, April 19th) will confront the winner of Perugia-Piacenza (1-0, match 2 on Wednesday at PalaBanca). In the same day, there’s the second match between Vibo and Civitanova (0-1) and Verona-Modena (1-0) is scheduled on March 9th (8.30 p.m.).
REFEREES The match 2 will be directed by the couple from Turin, Mauro Goitre (referee since 2008 and international referee since 2016) and Marco Braico (in the SuperLega since 2003). Goitre wil direct in Monza for the 14th time in this SuperLega championship; during which he’s already directed Trento-Perugia 3-1 on October 29th and the Final of Coppa Italia Civitanova-Trento (3-1) on January 29th in Bologna. For Braico, this will be the 15th seasonal match and he has already directed Diatec Trentino in occasion of the victories 3-2 in Padua (October 14th), at PalaTrento against Monza (November 27th) and the 3-0 at PalaTrento against Ravenna (January 22th) and Modena (February 19th).
