ph. Trabalza

Trento, March 24th 2017

Match 2 of 2017 UnipolSai Play off Championship semifinal will be play on Saturday March 25th in Perugia. Diatec Trentino will play at PalaEvangelisti and will try to win in order to gain the 2-0 in the round, based on the greatest number of matches won out of five.  The match will start at 6 p.m.: live on RAI Sport + HD and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After conquering the 1-0, the team from Trento will try on Saturday evening to win again against the opponent in order to make a further step towards the final qualification. Lanza and his team mates won Match 1 last Sunday for 3-1, which showed that balance was crucial to reach the victory; Angelo Lorenzetti has confirmed this thought the day before the second match.
The round has opened and is very difficult, in order to be in advantage we would have to improve our play actions already in Match 2 because what we showed during the first match isn’t enough anymore – he explained  - . Perugia plays better at home and can count on a still decisive service. We mustn’t be influenced by the court; we have worked hard during the last days and we are looking forward to get on court and check if what we’ve done, will make us win again”.
The team from Trento left today’s early afternoon to go to Perugia after the last morning training at PalaTrento. On Saturday morning, it will train at PalaEvangelisti as usual before the match. Match 2 will be the 46th  seasonal match of Trentino Volley, the 27th  away match of which it has won seventeen times and lose nine times ( the last time against Civitanova a month and a half ago). For the Club of via Trener will be the 97th match so far in the Play Off Championship (balance sheet of 61 victories and 35 defeats), 31st in semifinal, with 20 victories and 11 defeats.
COLACI REACHES 335 PLAYED MATCHES AND OUTDOES KAZIYSKI: THE 3RD MOST PRESENT PLAYER SO FAR WITH  TRENTINO VOLLEY Match 2 will be definitely a particular and important match for Massimo Colaci, which will play on the occasion the 335th match with Trentino Volley, becoming the third player with the greatest number of matches played with the Yellow-blue. The libero from Puglia will outdo Matey Kaziyski ( who stopped on April 2016 to 334 played matches) and will try to reach Emanuele Birarelli (345 matches) and Andrea Bari (339) with whom curiously he will play against on this occasion. At PalaEvangelisti, we will be able to see on Saturday the three record holders of presences  in Trentino Volley; Colaci already holds a record: no one before him has reached 330 matches in just seven years. Max played 51 matches during season 2010/11, 49 in 2011/12, 48 in 2012/13, 47 in 2013/14, 48 in 2014/15, 47 in 2015/16 and 44 in the current one, winning in total eleven titles.
THE OPPONENTS Contrary to Match 1 of last Sunday, Sir Safety Conad won’t be able to count on the American spiker Aaron Russell who seriously injured himself during a weekly training at an ankle, but it will be able to count on Emanuele Birarelli. Initially disqualified because of the red card at the beginning of Match 1’s third set, the middle blocker will enter regularly the court because the one day stop has been commuted into a financial penalty. In position 4, instead, the Austrian Berger is ready, already mvp of the only match played in Perugia between the two teams during this Championship. Bernardi’s team is ready for Europe Vice Champions’ visit and has on its back high quality home performances: during this season has won 15 out 18 played matches at PalaEvangelisti, losing only against Modena, Civitanova and Piacenza. The sold out is foreseen on the bleachers of the Umbrian sport establishment.
PRECEDENTS This will be the 17th confront between Sir Safety Perugia and Diatec Trentino, that started confronting each other on November 7th 2011 and then played important matches. There were a Championship semifinal (edition 2015, victory 2-1 for the yellow-blue team) and then a semifinal and quarters of final of Coppa Italia (edition 2015 and 2013). In all that cases, Trentino Volley won and the overall balance sheet is 12-4. However, at PalaEvangelisti the team won three matches out of 6 official ones and Sir Safety won the other three. The team, at home is unbeatable (since November 28th 2015, 3-1 victory in the second match of the Playoff). Trentino Volley hassn’t been able to winn in Perugia since October 26th 2014 (3-2, thanks to Kaziyski). The only seasonal match played in Umbria ended 3-0 for the home team (25-23, 25-25, 25-22 and Berger mvp).

THE SERIES Diatec Trentino won the first match of the best-of-five series, thanks to the 3-1 at the PalaTrento on March 19th (16-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22). On Saturday the teams play the second match, that could be the only one played in Umbria in case of other two yellow-blue victories (on Saturday and in the third match scheduled on April 9th in Trento at 6 p.m.). If Sir Safety coned wins one of the next two matches, there will be also a fourth match at PalaEvangelisti on Wednesday, April 19th at 8.30 p.m. Who passes the turn, will confront in the final the winner of Civitanova-Modena (1-0 for the team from Marche. On Sunday the second match at PalaPanini).

REFEREES Fabrizio Pasquali (first referee from Ascolti Piceno) and Gianni Bartolini, second referee from Florence, will direct the match. Pasquali has been a referee since 1997 and an international one since 2001, for him this will be the 17th seasonal match, two of them referred to Trentino Volley: away victory in three set in Sora on October 9th and home victory (3-0) against Modena on February 19th. Bratolini has been a referee in the SuperLega since 1992 and an international one since 2006, for him this will be the 14th seasonal match, two of them referred to Trentino Volley: home victory (3-0) against Padova on December 26th and victory in three sets at PalaTrento against Verona (February 8th).
