Diatec Trentino got off its 15th consecutive Scudetto Play Off with the right foot. The solid 3-0 win on Monza on Sunday night in PalaTrento allowed Lorenzetti and his team to take the lead in the quarter final series. The tenth semifinal in the Club’s history is now only one victory away.
“Two factors helped us to complete our task tonight - explained Jan Stokr to Radio Dolomiti after the match- ; the first one was having played against the same opponent just a week ago during the last regular season match, while the other one was the great victory against Piacenza on Wednesday night. Thanks to this circumstance we faced match 1 with a good knowledge of their game and their attacking trajectories; we were also very confident of our abilities, something only a 3-0 win can give you. Monza had nothing to lose, so they tried give it all on every ball, but we were better at controlling the match and bringing home the first point in the series. Giannelli’s performance was outstanding, every set was perfect and precise, so we spikers had no problems in scoring.”
“Also Lanza helped the team to win in three sets - went on Stokr, who never attacked below 56% percentage in the last three games-; during the third set he had a miraculous serving series, very similar to what Kaziyski would do in the past years. At a certain point I thought I had Matey behind my back, ready to serve, but I know also Pippo (Lanza) is able to serve as well. In three days everything will be at stake again, we start again from 0-0 and we need to be ready, physically and mentally. It will be tougher, but if we train well we can succeed once again and put our hands on the pass for the semifinals.”
Diatec Trentino trains today’s afternoon with a mixed session between weights and technique, and will train again on Tuesday before leaving for Monza.
