Simone Giannelli and Jan Stokr

Trento, December 30th 2016
The last days of 2016 have returned to Diatec Trentino a focused and impressive Stokr, who has proved to be incisive in all fundamentals. With dizzying percentages in attack, block and service and lots of personal scored points (39 between Monday 26th and Thursday 29th), the Czech opposite returned to be the real leader of the team, resulting decisive in both the matches versus Padova and Latina, which have seen the yellow-blue team regaining the second place in SuperLega Unipolsai 2016/17 ranking.
“I'm very happy mainly because of the victories obtained during this period, and also because I was able to play – explained Jan after the three-sets success in Lazio – It was important to me to regain my self-confidence and my smile, after an hard period in which things seemed to be not natural to me. Something has changed when we played versus Padova on Boxing Day and the next confirmation arrived in Latina; I'm already thinking about next game because I'm not a man who likes to think about the past, but I can finally say that I succeeded in being useful for my team. Not being able to do this earlier has maybe affected myself a bit from the moral point of view, but now I'm completely fine”.
“We needed a victory like the one we gained on Thursday night at PalaBianchini – continued Stokr – It has been difficult to impose ourselves during last away period and it was important to give continuity to the performances recently offered in the home matches, where we usually feel more convincing and self-assured. We had the first two sets under our control and then we won the point by point race or the third set: this gave us further enthusiasm and confidence, two factors that we missed in the last away matches played in Modena, Molfetta and Vibo Valentia”.
“The second place in ranking at the end of 2016 is a great result, but the best comes now – made it clear Jan taking a look at the ranking of SuperLega - “In few days will begin for us a January full of important matches, each one more important than the next. On Thursday 5th we will play in Finland for the debut in CEV Cup and immediately after we will play decisive league matches versus Piacenza and Perugia and, between them, the quarter-finals of Coppa Italia versus Monza. A crucial period for our ambitions is waiting for us and I want to live it to the fullest”.
