The report of the match. Diatec Trentino arrives in a PalaEvangelisti close to the four thousands presences again without Kovacevic, who stopped in the morning due toa pain back: Lorenzetti puts on the field Giannelli as setter, Vettori in the opposite role, Lanza and Hoag as spikers, Kozamernik and Zingel as middle-blockers and De Pandis in the libero role. Sir Safety Conad Perugia answers with De Cecco as setter, Atanasijevic in the opposite role, Zaytsev and Russel as spikers, Anzani and Podrascanin as middle-blockers and Colaci in the libero role. The start of the match is one of the most difficult ones for Diatec Trentino, because Podrascanin strikes very well at service giving hard times to the reception line of Trento (0-4). Angelo Lorenzetti’s team doesn’t disunite and slowly fills the gap at 12-12 making the most of some mistakes of the hosting team. Vettori spikes very hard but the equilibrium is precarious and Sir Safety Conad gets again ahead with Atanasijevic (14-17 and then 19-21). Trento gets closer again until the -1 (20-21) but then the newcomer Della Lunga enlarges the gap at service (20-24) and Zaytsev closes the set on 21-25.
The second set doesn’t start better for Diatec Trentino which suffers another heavy break from the service of Podrascanin (2-5); Vettori performs very well and with his service and spikes fills the gap on 9-9. The yellow-blues keep playing well and with Lanza (block on De Cecco) finds the advantage (15-14), immediately broken by a block and another scored point of Zaytsev (16-18). In the final part of the set Eder enters the field in exchange of Kozamernik and mend the tear (20-20). Vettori finds almost on his own the advantage again (22-20) and forces Bernardi to ask for a time-out; at the resumption the team from Umbria fills the gap on 23-23 with Zaytsev and wins the set with another ace of Della Lunga (24-26).
The script doesn’t change in the third set: Perugia immediately runs away (2-4) and Trento manages to rise up with Hoag already on 5-5, but then the opponents gets again ahead (9-11) with Russell. Angelo Lorenzetti’s men don’t back down and mend the tear on 13-13 with Eder at service, before overcoming the opponents with a block of Hoag on Atanasijevic (15-14). Vettori, him again, defends the little advantage (19-17 and 21-19), but then has to give up when he finds the block of Anzani (22-22). The sprint is won again by Perugia, which nullifies five set balls of the opponents (from 24-23 to 27-27), before overcoming Trento and winning with a block of Anzani on Vettori (28-30).
