MATCH REPORT. In the first starting six after the CWC 2016, Angelo Lorenzetti decides to change some players’ roles and choses Nelli as opposite, Antonov and Urnaut as hitters, Giannelli as setter, Solé and Daniele Mazzone as middle blockers, Colaci as libero. Latina replies with Sottile as setter, Strugar as opposite (Fei doesn’t warm up and doesn’t play), Maruotti and Penchev as hitters, Rossi and Gitto as middle blockers, Fanuli as libero. The beginning is quite weak for the home team; the attack struggles to find the right pace (6-8) and this is in favour of Latina’s block. An error by Rossi brings to a tie (9-9), but Penchev scores an ace and Maurotti blocks Giannelli for the 11-14, forcing the home team to call a time out. The match restarts and Diatec Trentino accelerates with Nelli at the service and Antonov and Mazzone in attack (16-15); in the final part the teams play at the same level (17-17 and 21-21); Oleg (23-22 and 25-22) is able to get the victory of the first set for Diatec Trentino.
The beginning of the second set is very unsure; the teams take the lead alternatively in the first half (5-6, 10-9) with the great performance of both opposites’ attacks. A quick hit of Gitto is out and this error breaks the continuing tie (13-11); then Strugar gives the home team a break point (15-12), forcing Nacci to call a time out. When the match restarts, there’s space only for Trento, more precisely for Nelli who scores three aces in a row for the 19-12; Latina seems disorganized (22-14) and the Yellow-blue team quickly wins the second set (25-16): 2-0.
The action of Diatec Trentino doesn’t stop in the third partial; Giannelli is very inspired and sets important balls for the hitters, making it possible to break away (5-1 and 7-2). Top Volley tries to react (7-4), but the team of Lorenzetti doesn’t stop with its service and its block (10-5 and 15-8). The trainer gives space to other players: Tiziano Mazzone in place of Urnaut, Burgsthaler in place of Daniele Mazzone and Chiappa in place of Colaci and the team gives him the victory of the third set with a great advantage (25-14) and without losing any break point.
