The fifth and decisive challenge of thd series of semi-finals play-offs Scudetto UnipolSai 2017 between Diatec Trentino and Sir Safety Conad Perugia is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday April 22nd. Three days after Match 2 in Perugia, that tied the score in this series, the two team get back on the field for Match 5 that will grant the winner the qualification for the final, in which the opposing team will be Civitanova. Live broadcast on RAI Sport + HD and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The yellow-blue players are going to face the most important match of their Italian season: to move on in the challenge for Scudetto they need a victory with any final score, that will let the team to qualify for its eighth final of play-offs in the last ten years. Playing this tie-breaker match at PalaTrento, in which no opponents has won in the last twenty-two official games since the beginning of this season, will be an advantage and we must derive the maximum benefit from it. “If we consider what the two team have shown during the entire regular season and then in the play-offs Scudetto, in my opinion Match 5 is the correct conclusion for this series, that was often made up of balanced and hard-fought sets – explained the yellow-blue coach Angelo Lorenzetti -. We need to be able to interpret the match in the right way, without thinking too much. Our season is on the line and our approach to the match is fundamental”. On this occasion, coach Lorenzetti can count on all his fourteen players, that have trained in the late afternoon and tomorrow morning will meet for the usual finishing touches.
HUNDREDTH MATCH OF PLAY-OFFS SCUDETTO FOR TRENTINO VOLLEY On this occasion, the club of via Trener will take part in its hundredth match of play-offs Scudetto. This figure includes all games (both home and away matches) played during the quarter-finals (46), semi-finals (33) and final (20). The yellow-blue team has won 62 out of the 99 matches he has already played and this is an extremely positive result for this sport club; in particular, among several successes the four matches that let Trentino Volley win the Scudetto (2008, 2011, 2013, 2015) have a special value. The opponent that the team has faced the most is Modena: 25 matches in 7 crossings on the table. On this occasion, Filippo Lanza too will reach his hundredth match wearing the yellow-blue captain’s armband.
TENTH TIE-BREAKER MATCH IN THE PLAY-OFFS SCUDETTO FOR TRENTINO VOLLEY In the previous fourteen participations in the play-offs Scudetto, Trentino Volley has already played in ten tie-breaker matches, similar to the challenge on Saturday, and has won six of them: two against Modena (2005/06 season, 3-2 at PalaPanini in Match 3 with the qualification for the semi-finals and 2010/11 season, 3-1 at PalaTrento in Match 5 with qualification for the final that then has won against Cuneo), two versus Piacenza (in both matches Trentino Volley was the winner: 3-0 at PalaTrento in Match 3 of final 2008 and 3-2 at PalaTrento in Match 5 of final 2013); one, the most recent, against Molfetta (3-1 at PalaTrento in 2016 quarter-finals) and versus Perugia (home victory at the tie break in Match 3 of 2015 semi-finals). There has been only one home tie-breaker match that Trento has lost: Match 5 of final Scudetto 2009 played at PalaTrento at the tie break against Piacenza; the other five were all victories for the club from Trento. The most frequent final result is the tie-break, which was useful to resolve six of the tenth matches of this type played by the yellow-blue team and that had a positive end on three occasions. For Trentino Volley the match against Perugia will be its 712th official challenge of its whole history, the 53rd of the season.
THE OPPONENTS Sir Safety Conad Perugia returns for the fourth and last time at PalaTrento during this season, aiming to obtain a victory in the building in via Fersina that was able to conquer only on one occasions out of ten matches it has faced. It hasn’t won at PalaTrento for more than three years. At Palatrento the team from the region of Umbria has already played a tie-breaker match of semi-finals (edition 2015) and it was beaten at the tie-break. In the previous four participations in the play-offs, Red Devils have already played kick-out challenges; besides one two years ago against Diatec Trentino, we must mention Match 5 of 2014 semi-finals, won by 3-1 in Piacenza. In order to neutralize home court advantage, that has always had an importnat role in the series, Sir Safety Conad Perugia will rely on the experience of Birarelli (that took part in the finals of the last nine seasons) and on the “explosiveness” of Atanasijevic and Zaytsev. With 79 and 47 personal points, these two players are the best scorers of the series.
THE PRECEDENTS The match on Saturday will be the 21st direct challenge between the two clubs that although have started facing each other relatively late (the first match dates back to 7th November 2011), have already experienced particularly significant moments: a semi-final Scudetto (edition 2015, with the yellow-blue victory by 2-1), a semi-final and quarter-finals of Coppa Italia (edition 2015-2013). On all occasions Trentino Volley was the winner, registering an higher number of victories (13-6). Moreover, at PalaTrento the home team has won nine out of tenth matches played; the only victory conquered by the team from Perugia dates back to 16th March 2014 (1-3 in regular season). Three victories for both teams during this season, with home court advantage as one of the key factors: success for the yellow-blue team both on March 19th at PalaTrento, and on April 9th; 3-0 victories (January 15th and April 19th) and 3-1 as final score (March 25th) for Perugia at PalaEvangelisti.
THE SERIES The score of the series of semi-final play-offs Scudetto UnipolSai 2017 that will end on Saturday night is 2-2, after Trento conquered a 3-1 home victory at Palatrento in Match 1 on march 29th (partial results: 16-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22) and on April 9th (28-26, 30-28, 22-25, 25-21) and the successes of Perugia at PalaEvangelisti in Match 2 for the final 3-1 on march 25th (partial results: 30-28, 20-25, 25, 19, 25-22) and 3-0 on April 19th (25-21, 25-21, 25-23). Because of these results a fifth and decisive match is necessary. The team that will pass to the next turn will face in the series of final (with five possible matches as in the semi-final, the first one on Tuesday April 25th) Cucine Lube Civitanova, that has beaten Modena with a final score of 3-1.
THE REFEREES The match will be refereed by Roberto Boris, first referee from Pavia, and Andrea Puecher, second referee from Padova. For Boris, referee since 1997 and international since 2010, it is the sixteen seasonal match in SuperLega; two of them already with Trentino Volley, both times at PalaTrento and in regular season: 3-1 victory on the 13th November against Civitanova and 3-0 victory against Piacenza on the 8th January. For Puecher, in serie A since 2003 and international since 2013, it will be the eighteen seasonal match; in two of them there were also Trento: 3-1 victory (match refereed with Boris) against Civitanova at PalaTrento the 13th November and 0-3 defeat on the 15th January against Perugia.
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The match will be a worldwide event, thanks to the live on the television, radio and internet. The match will be broadcasted on RAI Sport + HD, channel available on the digital and also on Sky (channel 227), with the commentary of Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; the match will also be broadcasted on the internet in streaming video and audio www.raisport.rai.it/dl/raisport/multimedia/diretta.html and it will also have an intercontinental visibility (more than thirty country connected) thanks to the live on Bandsports, Sportsklub, Sportsklub Poland, Eleven Sports, Sportsmax Caraibi, Saran, Telesports, Ote, Img and Perform.
The match will also be broadcasted live on Radio Dolomiti, official radio partner of Trentino Volley, with first live at around 5.55 p.m. All the radio frequencies of the regional network are available on the home page of the site of the Club, www.trentinovolley.it, while on www.radiodolomiti.com sit will be possible to listen to the streaming of the running commentary by clicking on the section “On Air”.
In television the recording of the match will be transmitted on Monday 24th of April at 9.30 p.m. on RTTR, TV partner of the Club of via Trener.

The tickets will also be available at the box office at PalaTrento from 4 p.m.; from 4.30 p.m. it will also be possible to go in the sports hall. The box offices will remain open until the end of the second set, from that point on it will not be possible going in the PalaTrento to see the rest of the match.
