After the anticipation of Civitanova-Milano (3-0) on Friday evening, on Sunday January 8th the eighteenth round (the first of 2017) of regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 will be played. Diatec Trentino will play at PalaTrento against Lpr Piacenza, in a match that has become a historic challenge in the Italian Volleyball. The match will start at 6 p.m., with live coverage on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel at this link www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After winning four consecutive times between championship and CEV Cup, the Yellow-blue formation requires important confirmations of its physical conditions at the first big match of the away round against the historic adversary, Piacenza. In order to answer to Lube, that reached +6 on the ranking list, it will necessary a victory to not lose ground and reach the first ranked team and at the same time, it will be necessary an efficient performance to start in the right way a crucial week. After the match of tomorrow, two commitments are scheduled: another home match against Monza on Wednesday (quarter finals of Coppa Italia) and the direct match against Perugia on Sunday January 15th.
“After December, a month in which we had time to train, from now on there will time only to play because the timetable for us will be full of commitments – the coach Angelo Lorenzetti said - . It has arrived the time to face many matches and show also into the court what we have done during the last weeks. The match against Piacenza will be challenging because our adversaries have hitters that are able to cause difficulties to anybody and it’s normal to have difficulties when you can’t do with continuity the side-out phase. We must be able to handle the adversary’s shock wave in reception and preserve the undefeated record at PalaTrento”.
In front of its audience, Diatec Trentino hasn’t lost for almost nine month: in fact the last ko was on April 25th (1-3 against Modena in the match 4 of semifinal). After returning from Finland on Friday evening, the team finished the preparation for the match on today's late afternoon with a training at which also Gabriele Nelli and Daniele Mazzone have participated. Both players, who have not participated to the away match of CEV Cup due to different physical problems, are on their way to recover but are unlikely to play on tomorrow’s match, that will be the 685th official match of Trentino Volley’s history (balance sheet: 478 victories and 206 defeats).
THE ADVERSARIES As Diatec Trentino, also Lpr Piacenza arrives to this appointment after having played during this week its first commitment of 2017 CEV Cup. The White-red won on Wednesday evening at PalaBanca the home match of the sixteenth finals against Innsbruck with a definitive 3-0, a smiling start of 2017; a similar result to that of last year in the last matched all. The home 3-1 against Molfetta, achieved on December 29th, was the first victory of the away round for the Emilians, after a beginning characterized by three consecutive defeats: in Perugia,Verona ad in front of its audience against Civitanova. The points up for grabs in Sunday's match are necessary to Zlatanov and his team mates, who don't have to lose further contact from Calzedonia in the race for the fifth place.
In order to try and get them, Alberto Giuliani will rely another time on the Cuban trio Hernandez, Hierrezuelo and Marshall, already decisive in the home round and absolutely fundamental to the team’ s play actions: the opposite has confirmed himself as one of the more productive offenders of the tournament (2° bomber after Sabbi) and for the second consecutive year, the best ace man, while the setter and the spiker are important players at block and reception as well as setter and attack. Among the positive things of the season, there is also the good performance of the French fourth place Clevenot (seventh spiker of the tourney) and the use of Papi with continuity as libero alternatively to Manià. In the away round, Piacenza has won four out of the eight played matches, losing only in Civitanova, Vibo Valentia, Perugia, Verona.
PRECEDENTS After tomorrow’s match Trentino Volley and Piacenza will have played fifty official matches; after Modena (64) and Lube (51), Piacenza is the third team against which Trentino Volley has played the most. Trento has won 31 matches (Piacenza 18) also thanks to the fifteen victories in the last twenty matches played against each other. In the match of the first half of the season, which was played on November 17th at PalaBanca, Piacenza has won for 3-1 (sets 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22) with a good Hernandez (28 points, 55% in attack). In the last eight years Piacenza has never won at PalaTrento; the last victory of LPR in Trento goes back on 17th May 2009 (3-2 in game 5 of final of playoff, with the resulting victory of the championship). On the whole, Trentino Volley has won nineteen out of the twenty-five official precedents played at home against the White-reds; the last was played on November 12th 2015 (victory for 3-0 with Lanza mvp).
REFEREES The referees of the match will be Stefano Cesare (from Rome, in Serie A since 1999 and on international field since 2010) and Roberto Boris from Pavia (in Serie A since 2007 and on international field since 2010). The two referees are at their first direction together in SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, the seventh for Cesare in this season, who has directed a match for 8 months at PalaTrento (on April 25th2016, defeat against Modena 1-3 in game 4 of semi-final of playoff), while Boris has already directed a match of Diatec Trentino in this season on 13th November (home victory against Civitanova 3-1).
RADIO, TV AND INTERNET The match will be reported live by Radio Dolomiti (Trentino Volley partner network). The links with the match at PalaTrento will be made within “Campioni di Sport”, the sport program of via Missioni Africane. The frequencies to listen to the regional network are available on the home page www.trentinovolley.it, while on the site www.radiodolomiti.com will be also possible to listen to the live streaming of the report of the match. It is also scheduled a live video-report of the match on the web space “Lega Volley Channel”, at www.sportube.tv/volley; you must pay to have this service. The recorded broadcast of the match will be entirely transmitted on Monday 9th January at 9.30 p.m. by RTTR, partner TV of the Club of via Trener.

TICKETS, MERCHANDISING AND ANFFAS STAND The ticket-presale for the match against Piacenza is available until this evening at 7 p.m. at the offices of Promoevent, in via Suffragio 10 in Trento, and at any time at http://www.vivaticket.it/ita/event/trento-vs-civitanova/90479. The coupons will be available also on Sunday at PalaTrento from 5 p.m., when the entrance will be opened. The ticket box will remain open until the end of the second set. From that moment it will no longer be possible to enter PalaTrento to watch the rest of the match.
Behind the long stand north side, the supporters will find the renewed yellow-blue merchandising point at their disposal; a wide range of items Trentino Volley for sale. On the opposite side of the entrance there will be a stand of “Liberamente Insieme per Anffas Trentino”. All spectators can get further information about the onlus voluntary organization established in 2008 in Trento with the purpose of representing the voluntary work for people with disability, and buy lottery tickets. The collected funds will help this important activity.
