The great 3-1 win in PalaTrento against Sir Safety Conad Perugia allowed Diatec Trentino to debut in the 2017 Play Off UnipolSai semifinals with a victory, as it already happened during seven of the nine previous participations to this post season part of the italian championship.Yellow-blues went 1-0 in the series that stretches on five matches and on Saturday 25th March will travel to Umbria for match 2 with a greater knowledge of their own abilities and less pressure. Among the winning moves made by coach Angelo Lorenzetti we find the relay between Jan Stokr and Gabriele Nelli in position 1 and 2. The Czech opposite contributed with his usual apport of points and power for most part of the match, while the Tuscan player had to score some of the most important points in the final parts of third and fourth sets.
“Our fans confirmed to be once again our seventh man - stated Jan Stokr to Radio Dolomiti after match 1- The crowd supported us perfectly after a bad first set; something similar happened during the match against Perugia in regular season. Maybe remembering that day we stayed united; crucial was starting the second set with a better approach; it could be a series like the one against Piacenza in 2013. The level is very high, and winning away is very difficult, I hope that playing on the homecourt will help us: it means going to game 5 and win it.”
“It was really important to win after the bad start in the first set - confirmed Gabriele Nelli - we remained focused even in difficult situations. It wasn’t easy but we handled the pressure better than the opponent. During match 2 we would like to have many fans with us, because it’s going to be very hard, but also a great challenge.”
In order to help the players recover from the effort of the match, staff allowed them to have a rest day today; Yellow-blues will train on Tuesday morning, with two sessions (weights and technique). In the schedule leading to the match, the team will also train in compare with Calzedonia Verona on Wednesday 22nd March afternoon, in PalaOlimpia.
