Istanbul (Turkey), April 1st 2017
Another European finals, the third in a row and the sixth overall, for Trentino Volley! After having achieved this night its task already well started in the going match of the semi-finals at PalaTrento, Trentino Diatec has in fact conquered the qualification at the finals of CEV Cup 2017, which will award the price of the second most important continental club trophy. The other qualified team for the finals will be the French team of Tours Vb, which has tonight defeated the German team of Rheinmain. The double match is scheduled for Wednesday 12th (first match at PalaTrento) and Saturday April 15th (in France) in a match that will see the challenge between two teams that won at least a Champions League in the recent past.
To achieve the qualification to the the last stage of the tournament – which in the five previous turns has seen the participation of other forty-three teams coming from twenty different countries – Angelo Lorenzetti’s team had to suffer until the end to finally get its first European seasonal defeat. The 3-2 gained achieved tonight by the Turkish team had in the end proved to be almost useless since Lanza and his teammates had already gain the pass for the pass winning the second and fourth sets. As everyone expected the hosting team fought very hard tonight managing to get the opponents in troubles with a very incisive service (7 direct aces) and a good side-out. Trentino Diatec did very well in maintaining the focus on the match and keeping the advantages created in the second and fourth sets (as instead didn’t happen in the first and third ones) to achieve their task. Decisive was the help of Stokr (21 points with 52% of net attacks, three aces and three blocks) and the constancy of Urnaut and Lanza (16 points for both of them with similar percentages) in the decisive moments of the match.
Trento celebrates this way the qualification to the second final match of its season: after the one played in Coppa Italia in Bologna on January 29th, there will be another historical date on the European field where the yellow-blue club has already managed to win seven times.
