On Thursday night the first round of  matches of the 2017 CEV Cup took place, seeing 9 out of 11 teams winning on their home court. The only two teams able to win an away match were the two clubs coming from the Champions League, Hapoel Akko from Israel and Budva from Montenegro. Kastela, Dobrich, Tallin, Nicosia and Minsk, the other teams coming from the Champsions League, were defeated.
Piacenza won against Minsk after a four-set match, while Tours scored 3-1 against the Slovenian team of Kamnik; Antwerp defeated Kastela.
Trentino Volley, who will join the competition starting from the next round will, likely, face Loimaa Finnish team, who won against Bulgarians Dobrich. Opposite spiker Oivane (22 points) and Australian spiker Smith (15 points) were the best scorers of the game and will try to lead their team Hurrikaani to the next round of the competition on the return match, taking place between Tuesday 20 and Thurdsay 22 of December.
