Report of the match. A large number of spectators came to see this match. Lorenzetti relied on Giannelli, Stokr as opposite hitter (Nelli out because of an abs muscle strains), Urnaut and Lanza, Solé and Van de Voorde, Colaci as a libero. Padova’s coach Baldovin proposes Shaw as a setter, Milano as opposite hitter (also Giannotti out), Maar and Fedrizzi (sixth match as a former player at PalaTrento in the 2016) as outside hitters, Kincilja and Volpato, and the libero Balaso. The beginning of the match is favorable for Kioene, with Maas in the service, trying to dominate (1-%); Lorenzetti’s time out is useful and then the yellow-blue blocks during everything under control (5-6). With the stroke of Milan Kioene has some chances (5-9), helped by some difficulties in the side out phase of Trentino Volley (Fedrizzi’s ace). In the middle of the set, Diatec Trentino tries to catch up with Stokr (12-15) but Padova restarts with a block and Milan (13-18, 15-21). Urnaut’s action (17-21) tries to open again the dispute, but it’s too late because Baldovin interrupts the game and at the reprise his players don’t allow anything (18-25). Diatec Trentino recover in the second set, exploiting the attitude to score of Stokr (62% in the fraction) and the defense of the net by blocking; this allows to gain instantly four points (4-0) and then progressively increase the speed (11-6). Padova has a hard time in attack and starts to get nervous, allowing the side court even more (16-7, Maar’s error and Solé’s block on Milan). Baldovin batten down the hatches, introduced Averill and Sestan instead of Koncilja and Maar, but Kioene never gives important signs of reprise (19-10) and so the tie set goes quickly in the local game bag (25-14 – another block of Solé on pipe of Fedrizzi).
In the third set Trento is at the same level of the precedent partial in break phase and takes an advantage on Padova, overtaken by the Yellow-blue with service and block (4-2, 10-4), which are fundamentals in which the local players are really good at. Stokr is very efficient in attack and in service and drags all the team on the 15-8, then to 18-9 thanks to Lanza and Solé. The monologue of Lorenzetti’s team is interrupt only by a series of Fedrizzi’s services (19-14), and some aces; once again the Czech opposite fixes things (23-15) and Diatec Trentino reaches 2-1 concluding on 25-18.
In the fourth set Giannelli is the protagonist, scoring three breaks which allow the locals to achieve 5-1, scoring also an ace and a block on the counterpart Shaw. PalaTrento is excited for a team that becomes even more confident on its own tools and thanks to defense, service and attack, score a lot of points (9-2, 14-4), taking advantage on the adversary who isn’t able to answer. Stokr gains the title of mvp turning into points all the balls he receives (17-5 e 20-8). The team achieves 3-1 by scoring on the 25-12.
