Trento, October 15 2017
After the seasonal debut with the Del Monte Supercoppa 2017, the 73rd Serie A Championship is about to start on Sunday October 15th, the fourth edition under the name SuperLega UnipolSai. During the first day of the first leg round Diatec Trentino receives Revivre Milano in PalaTrento; the match starting at 6 pm will be live streamed on Radio Dolomiti and on the Lega Volley Channel www.elevensports.it/superlega.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO Last weekend in Civitanova was an unsuccessful opening of the season, so Lanza and the team are now looking to break the ice on the home court and win the first match; Diatec Trentino is still considered one the best team in the league even after rebuilding the roster for ten thirteenth since last year.
“I’m sure it will be a fun game, for both teams were changed deeply over summer - stated Angelo Lorenzetti -. We must find our identity, and so must do Milano, where many good players arrived, improving the level. A key factor for the result will be our serve; high percentage of side-out balls and patience must be our best skills”.
Diatec Trentino approaches the match with a full roster, including former Milano player Nicholas Hoag. During the last seventeen seasons in the top league, Trentino Volley won the opening match ten times: 2002/03 (3-1 on Milano), 2005/06 ( 3-0 on Padova), 2008/09 (3-0 on Forlì), 2009/10 (3-1 on Latina), 2010/11 ( 3-0 on Castellana Grotte), 2011/12 ( 3-0 on Monza), 2013/14 (3-2 on Latina), 2014/15 (3-0 on Padova), 2015/16 (3-1 on Monza) and 2016/17 (3-0 on Vibo).
LOOKING FOR VICTORY NUMBER 500 Opening the season against Milano in PalaTrento is not something new, as during season 2002/2003 Asystel Milano was defeated 3-1 on October 26th 2002. The Club is at the 718th official match of its history, with 499 victories (70%) so far; with 240 wins away and 259 at home, tonight the 500 threshold could be broken!
OPPONENTS Revivre Milano was last during last season and is now looking for redemption aiming to high ranking. To do so, the young society decided to cut with the past and chose Giani as coach investing in the market. Setter Bertoli and middle-blocker Galassi, former Trentino Volley player, are the only players remained from last season. New faces like opposite Abel-Aziz, spikers Klinkenberg and Schott, middle-blockers Averill and Piano. The best player seems to be slovenian spiker Cebulj who is currently out for injury.
PREVIOUS MATCHES Trentino Volley and Power Volley Milano face each other for the seventh time; during seasons 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 Trento won 7 matches with only one set lost. Last season two 3-0 wins on November 6th and February 5th.
REFEREES Andrea Puecher from Padova and Pozzato from Bozen are the two referees for the match.
