On Wednesday February 7th, 2017/2018 SuperLega UnipolSai returns to the court for the twenty-first regular season round that will be closed by Castellana Grotte- Ravenna on Thursday. Diatec Trentino will face Taiwan Excellence in PalaBianchini of Latina; the match starts at 8:30 pm and will be covered live on Radio Dolomiti and on live streaming at the Lega Volley Channel at www.elevensports.it/superlega.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO Yellow-blues travel south in direction Latina with the goal of holding tight to the fourth place in the league table and possibly overtaking Verona, the direct opponent in the rank.
“We are playing for the fourth place in the league but such a tricky game must be tackled with determination and focus, without thinking about the logics of the rank - said Diatec Trentino coach Angelo Lorenzetti -. The team we play against has achieved less than they deserve; Latina has a great sideout phase, thanks to the performances of Sottile as setter, and can also lower the efficiency of their opponent in attack with their break point phase. They must win to stay in the playoff zone: for this and other reasons we face a difficult match.
In PalaBianchini Diatec Trentino will count on the full roster available and two different possible layouts; Lorenzetti could confirm the three spikers attack module, with Lanza opposite to Giannelli as during the last two games, or use Vettori as regular opposite. Only during the last training on Wednesday morning will the coach decide which strategy; the team trained this morning in PalaTrento before leaving for Latina by train.
Trentino Volley will play its 744th official match, number 451st of regular season and looking for the 250th victory ever.
THE OPPONENT  The three set ko suffered in PalaPanini on Sunday against Modena and the contemporary victory of Ravenna (9th place) and Milano (8th) made Taiwan Excellence Latina slide away from the playoff zone. Six matches away from the end of regular season and eight points behind the last available rank for the playoffs, the team coached by Di Pinto will try to win all the matches left and with such spirit they will face Trento. In PalaBianchini the home team got their best results, stopping Civitanova in three sets and winning 3-0 the last three games (Castellana Grotte, Sora and Vibo). The skilled setter Sottile lays his game on the couple Starovic- Savani and on the recently arrived Japanese Ishikawa (playing instead of Maruotti). In the Latina team french middle-blocker Le Goff and USA libero Erik Shoji, best receiver of the league, are the two best international players.
PRECEDENTS Latina is the fifth team against which Trentino Volley played most official matches, thirty five overall. Only Modena (68), Civitanova (58), Piacenza (53) and Cuneo (47) have been more often at the other side of the net. So far, Trentino Volley leads for 27 wins to 8 defeats, with an ongoing streak of seven matches. The last victory by Latina dates back to April 13th 2014 (1-3 in PalaTrento), in the playoff for the fifth place. In PalaBianchini, on the other side, the team from Latina managed to win five times in seventeen matches. During the first leg of regular season coach Lorenzetti’s team won by 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-10) and Eder was named MVP (16 points, 8 blocks, 4 aces).
REFEREES The first referee will be Maurizio Canessa from Bari (in Serie A since 2009) and the second Fabrizio Pasquali from Ascoli Piceno (since 1997, international referees since 2001).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV  The match will be fully covered by Radio Dolomiti, network partner of Trentino Volley. Inside the magazine “Campioni di Sport”, starting at 8:25 pm, all the news and updates will be live and available to all the fans; on the www.trentinovolley.it homepage and on www.radiodolomiti.com the links for the live streaming can be found, as well as the frequencies for the radio.
