After Friday night’s anticipation Ravenna-Molfetta (2-3), the 19th turn of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 is scheduled on Sunday, January 15th (the 6th one of the second half of the championship). Diatec Trentino will play at PalaEvangelisti in Perugia, against the home team Sir Safety Conad, this will be a big match. The match starts at 6 p.m., live transmitted on RAI Sport 1 and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After the qualification for the Final Four of Coppa Italia 2017 (one of the goals of this season), the yellow-blue team can focus again on the championship, confronting one of the hardest away match of this season. Lanza and his teammates will have to defend the second place in the ranking from the home team, which has only one point less.
“In order to reach the goal we need competitiveness and high-level game – stated the coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . Perugia was a good team in the first part of the season, when we succeeded in beating them at PalaTrento; and now they are even better. In order to have a chance to win, we need to do our own best in every aspect, also in character. We are satisfied with the work we’ve done but we need a great performance also in matches like this, which aren’t a testing ground, but a studying one”.
The team will leave with the bus for Umbria in the early afternoon with all players, after the eve’s training this morning at PalaTrento. Nelli and Daniele Mazzone recovered, so the coach will only have problems with the large number of players on disposal. Diatec Trentino will conduct the finishing touch pre-match on Sunday in the morning at PalaEvangelisti, where it will play the 28th official match of the season, the 687th match ever in the history of Trentino Volley, the 374th away match (it won 234 times).
THE OPPONENTS The defeat at the tie break against Piacenza last Wednesday evening in front of its supporters in the quarter-finals of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2017 put an end to a series of consecutive victories (14) that had started on November 9th. The first ko of the management of Bernardi, who replaced Kovac as coach of the team on November 11th, that will force the players of what was one of the two-most-favoured teams to follow the Final Four as spectators. They will concentrate on the last two goals that they can still achieve: SuperLega and Champions League. Sunday’s match is fundamental for Sir Safety Conad’s objectives related to the championship; in front of the public of special occasions, the team from Perugia will try to confirm what has been since now the favourable result against Trento that it has registered on the last two recent matches played at PalaEvangelisti (both won by 3-1). Playing in their home court during the current regular season, Red Devils lost only one match out of nine (against Modena on November 1st) leaving only two points to their opponents. The return of Atanasijevic and the contribution offered by the new arrivals Podrascanin (best blocker of the category) and Zaytsev (second in the ace-ranking) allowed Perugia to become the team that performs best in the block phase and the second one for what concerns points scored with services. Among Trentino Volley’s exes: the libero Bari, the middle-blocker Birarelli and the spiker della Lunga. In this season, they are finally playing together again after many years (and many others following) in which they have shared the yellow-blue colours.
THE PRECEDENTS Sunday’s match will be the 15th challenge between the two sport clubs, that faced each other for the first time only during season 2012/13 and that have played against each other more frequently during the last three championships. If we consider all the matches played, there are positive forecasts for the yellow-blue team (11-3), that won eight out of nine games at PalaTrento (the last one in the first half of the regular season: 3-1 on October 29th, with Giannelli Mvp). In the previous five matches that took place at PalaEvangelisti, Diatec Trentino was successful on three occasions: once by 3-0 (on 7th November 2012) and twice by 3-2 (on 22nd December 2013 and on 26th October 2015). On the last two occasions, however, they have been defeated 3-1 by the team from Perugia: on 28th april 2014 (the second match of semi-final for the Italian Championship) and on 8th November 2015 (match of regular season). Sir Safety is a sport club originally from Bastia Umbra, that later moved to Perugia as the team reached Serie A2, and it is not related to RPA-LuigiBacchi.it that played in this city from 2002 to 2010 and faced Trento on 21 occasions, losing 12 times.
THE REFEREES The match will be refereed by Giorgio Gnani (from Ferrara, in Serie A since 1997 and International since 2009) and Andrea Puecher (from Padua, tenured since 2003 and international since 2013). They are refereeing together for the first time in in SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, which is the 7th for Gnani (that has alredy refereed Trento-Latina 3-0 and Molfetta-Trento 2-3 during this championsip) and the 10th for Puecher, that was present in some matches involving Trentino Volley, such as the home match of the current competition that Trento won 3-1 against Lube and the first two games at the beginning of the season of Supercoppa Italiana (Modena-Trento 3-1 and Civitanova-Trenti 3-2).
TV, RADIO, INTERNET The match will be a media event of global dimensions, with live broadcast on tv, radio and internet. The game will be broadcasted on RAI Sport 1, which supporters can find both on the digital terrestrial platform and on the satellite one of Sky at number 227. It will be commented by Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; the match will be available on internet and in video and audio streaming at the link www.raisport.rai.it/dl/raisport/multimedia/diretta.html and it will be available at intercontinental level (for more than 30 countries) thanks to the live broadcasts scheduled by Bandsports, Sportsklub, Sportsklub Poland, Sky Mexico, Sportsmax Caraibi, Saran, Telesport, Ote, Img and Perform. Radio Dolomiti, partner radio of Trentino Volley, will provide whole live coverage of the match from 5.55 p.m. Supporters can find all radio frequencies they need in order to listen to the regional network on the home page of the sport club’s site, www.trentinovolley.it. On www.radiodolomiti.com will be possible to listen to the live radio reportage in the section “On Air”. Whole deferred coverage of the match will be broadcasted on Monday January 16th at 9.30 p.m. on RTTR, partner tv of Trentino Volley.
