Trento, November 26th 2016
On Sunday, November 27th, there will be the 12th regular season turn of the Super League UnipolSai 2016/17, already started on Friday evening with the TV anticipation Sora-Padova (3-2). After two away matches, Diatec Trentino will play again at PalaTrento against Gi Group Monza. The match starts at 6 p.m., with the report on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel on www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The two defeats of last week in Emilia didn’t compromise the positive first half of the season. The yellow-blue team will have to try to win all the points in the next seven days (from tomorrow until Sunday, December 4th) in the matches against Monza and Molfetta (Puglia), in order to close in the best way possible the first half of the season. Trentino Volley needs only one point in order to be mathematically sure to occupy one of the first four positions (and to directly go to the quarter finals of the Italian Cup); but Angelo Lorenzetti’s players will obviously try to get more points, to confirm or improve the second place in the ranking. “Our first half of the season has been certainly positive, but we will have to play two matches that could improve it – said the coach, after the contractual extension - . We have the chance to classify in a prestigious position, useful for the race in the Championship as well as for the one connected to the Italian Cup and all our energies of this period are dedicated to get a good result, tomorrow against Monza and then against Molfetta. We’ll deal with our tasks with the awareness of our means, because we proved to deserve these results and the players have been great protagonists in this first half of the season”. This is the first period without midweek matches after the return from Brazil for Diatec Trentino and the team could prepare with care for tomorrow’s match; Lorenzetti recovers Van de Voorde (who got better after the flu) and could count on the wide range at the center of the net and in attack. In the regular team there should be place for the captain Filippo Lanza, at his 216th match with Trentino Volley, surpassing Della Lunga (215) and becoming this way the fifth player with the most presences. According to the statistics, Diatec Trentino will play the 309th official match at PalaTrento, the 209th home match of the regular season and will try to obtain the 473th victory.
THE ADVERSARIES The first eleven days of regular season have shown how Gi Group Monza can be a loose cannon of Super League UnipolSai 2016/17, as the insiders already broadcasted in the summer. The team trained by the Spanish Miguel Angel Falasca (ex Belchatow, first of all as setter and then as coach) with eighteen points, only one point less than Verona and four points more than Padova, the seventh team in the ranking list has played since now very well, making some unexpected slipup (as the K.O. in three sets against Sora) but also achieving some prestigious results, as the victory at PalaPanini of Modena. As for the away route Il Gi Group won only another match (in Vibo Valentia), while in front of his home supporters it won against the direct contenders of the playoffs: 3-0 against Milano and Latina, 3-2 against Ravenna and the recent 3-1 against Molfetta. The introduction in the team of the Germans Fromm (first seasonal scorer of the Club with 150 points and sixth spiker of the championship according to weighed average) and Hirsch has slightly improved the attack quality of high ball and also the others players already in the team in the precedent seasons have improved a lot, as the Serbian setter Jovovic, the middle blockers Beretta and Verhees, the other spiker, the team captain Botto, very efficient not only under net but also in reception.
THE PRECEDENTS Trentino Volley and Vero Volley Monza had played officially one against the other only four times, all matches in regular season of the last two seasons. The balance is in favor of the Yellow-blue that won 3-0 the matches on December 26th 2014 at PalaIper and on April 1st 2015 at PalaTrento and 3-1 the matches played on October 28th 2015 in Brianza and on December 21st 2015 in front of its supporters (last match played by the two teams). In the past the Club in via Trener played seven matches (all won) against another team from Monza: l’Acqua Paradiso, already Montichiari.
REFEREES Referees are Marco Braico (from Turin, top league referee since 2003) and Gianluca Cappello (from Siracusa, top league referee since 2004); it is the first time they work together during SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/2017. Braico is at his sixth season match (last match with Trento was on October 17th, tie break win against Padova), while Cappello, at his fifth match, was the referee almost one year ago against Castellanza.
