Trento, 22nd December 2016

The conclusion of the second legs of round of 32, that have taken place from Tuesday to today, shows us which team Diatec Trentino will face in the first weeks of January in the round of sixteen of 2017 CEV Cup. The sport club of via Trener will take part in what is its 11th attendance at the European Cups in the second phase of the knock-out tournament, playing against this Finnish team: Hurrikaani Loimaa. Tonight they have eliminated a Bulgarian team, Dobrich, thanks to a double victory (3-0 in the first leg and 3-1 in the second leg). The first match involving Loimaa and Diatec Trentino is scheduled for January Thursday 5th in Finland (Trentino Volley has never played there before), while second leg will take place on January Wednesday 19th at PalaTrento. As happened during round of 32, the team able to collect the highest number of points by the end of the two matches will go to the next round. As in the championship of SuperLega, a team conquers 3 points winning 3-0 or 3-1, 2 points winning 3-2 and 1 losing 2-3. There will be a golden set(a 15-point tiebreak played at the end of the second match) if there is a tie. The first phase of the tournament didn’t provide surprises as in the round of sixteen the teams favoured by the forecasts have qualified themselves and only on one occasion it was necessary to play a golden set (in the match between Novi Sad and Lviv) in order to establish which are the twelve teams that will play against the others that are already qualified. At this point, in the tournament Finland, Serbia and France still have 3 teams each; Greece, Israel, Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium, Austria and Bulgaria have two; Russia, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Montenegro, Romania and Denmark have one.
