Trento, December 28th 2016
The 17th round of SuperLega Unipolsai 2016/17 will be played tomorrow, last day of 2016, simultaneously on seven different fields. Diatec Trentino will play at Palabianchini of Latina versus the hosts of Top Volley; the kick-off is scheduled for 8.30 p.m with live coverage on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Canale at www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After having regained the second place making the most of the two last home matches of the second half of regular season, the yellow-blue team are looking in Lazio for another important result to successfully conclude the year and look out to 2017 with the best possible place in ranking. The main goal is to find again a victory in an away match, which is missing from December 4th (3-2 in Molfetta). “It is an important test – said coach Angelo Lorenzetti during the presentation – After two games in which we took two three-points wins in front of our public, we're going in fact to start playing away again, which will be very hard since last times we lacked of personality and game quality. We will have to show a more aggressive mentality, also because we will face a team which has improved its performances significantly after the arrive of Daniele Bagnoli on its bench, improving in particular in the side-out phase. At Palabianchini, moreover, this is a team that finds greater boost and determination”.
Diatec Trentino left for Lazio by train around lunch time and will already reach its destination in the early evening. They won't be part of the team the opposite Nelli, because of an abdominal strain and the middle-blocker Daniele Mazzone, who will stay in Trento for some medical check-ups. Angelo Lorenzetti will have very few doubts about the starting six for Latina, confirming Stokr in the opposite role and Van de Voorde as middle-blocker, ex of the match beside Tine Urnaut.
At Palabianchini on Thursday morning will be the classical pre-match finishing, Diatec Trentino will play the 24th official match of the season, the 683rd of its overall history, the 54th of 2016 (final balance of 36 wins and 17 defeats).
OPPONENTS The arrival of Daniele Bagnoli in the team halfway through the first half of the season has given the change that Top Volley Latina was looking for in order to improve a difficult beginning of the season. With the former coach of Sisley in place of Nacci, the team from Lazio has left the last place of the ranking list and has won four out of the nine last matches played. The eighth place, the last that makes it possible to participate in the playoff scudetto, is still distant seven points. In order to close this gap, the team from Lazio needs to count on PalaBianchini, where they could win four times in eight matches and haven’t been loosing since November 13th. The only success of the second half of the season has arrived at PalaBianchini (3-1 against Ravenna); the team has also to thank Fei, the opposite who is always inspired by setter Sottile and who is in the top ten of the scorers of the championship, even if he has played just in thirteen matches. Another strong point of Top Volley are the middle blockers: Rossi is the sixth blocker of the championship and Gitto is the third best player of the championship in area 3, according to the statistics of Lega.
PRECEDENTS Latina and Trentino Volley have a long tradition of official matches, a total of 33 (25 victories for Trento, 8 for the opponent), and the Club from Lazio is the fifth team (together with Sisley) against which the Club of via Trener has played the most. Trentino Volley has been able to win eleven times on the field of Latina (9 at PalaBianchini, 1 at PalaCesaroni in Genzano – centre that has been used by the team from Lazio in the season 2001/2002 –, 1 at PalaSport in Frosinone). Last match played in Lazio took place at PalaBianchini on February 21st, when the Yellow-blues won 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 16-25, Urnaut mvp). The match of the first half of regular season has been won by Diatec Trentino in three sets on October 27th with Nelli best scorer (18 points) and mvp (25-22, 25-16, 25-14). At PalaBianchini Latina hasn’t won against Trentino Volley since 5th January 2012 (3-1).
REFEREES The referees of the match will be Luca Saltalippi (from Perugia, in Serie A since 2011) and Simone Santi (from Città di Castello – Perugia in Serie A since 1994 and international Fivb referee since 2011). The two referees are at their first direction together in SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, the second for Saltalippi (Trentino Volley has no precedents with him) and the eleventh for Santi, who has directed Modena-Trento 3-1 (semi-final of Supercoppa 2016 on September 24th) and Trento-Milano 3-0 on November 6th.
