SuperLega, Diatec Trentino stopped at the tie break by Vibo Valentia in the first phase of the second half of the season

Three years after the last defeat, PalaValentia proves to be a hostile court to Trentino Volley. In the first match of the return round of  2016/2017 SuperLega UnipolSai, Angelo Lorenzetti’s team faced the third defeat of this season, losing 3-2 against home team Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia.
This setback forces Yellow-blues to leave the second place in the rank in favour of Modena, who yesterday won against Sora, and reduces the gap with Perugia to one single point. After a thrilling start during the first two sets, when Trentino Volley easily led the game, the home team furiously reacted and managed to win the third set. On 2-1, the duo Michalovic and Barreto led their team to the tie break and then forced Trentino Volley to return from Vibo Valentia with only one point in the rank.
As the stats say, only in the first part of the match did Trentino Volley play at its usual level: 65% in attack in the first set, 5 blocks in the second. Captain Filippo Lanza was the best scorer with 15 points and 35% in attack, followed by Nelli (14points). An important contribution was brought by Simon Van de Voorde with a stunning 80% attack percentage and two blocks.
