Trento, December 17th, 2015
Three tie-break in eight days for a total of fifteen sets played between Tuesday 8th and Wednesday, December 16th. Backed by this grueling schedule, Diatec Trentino returned today afternoon in Trento, after the last international trip of 2015, where they lost only at the tie break against the Champions of France in the fourth round of the Pool C 2016 DenizBank CEV Volleyball Champions League. To come back to town the Yellow-blues had to use three different transports: the train between Tours and Paris, the plane between the French capital and Malpensa and finally the bus from Lombardy to Trento for a total of nine-hour journey. The resumption of training for Sunday evening’s match at PalaTrento against Monza (at 6.00 pm, the first day of the second leg of Super League) is scheduled on Friday morning.
In addition to allowing the team to move constantly the ranking, the three matches played in little more than a week against Verona, Lube and Tours have allowed the fans to appreciate more the qualities of Georgi Bratoev. The Bulgarian setter has shown not to have been chosen at random from Trentino Volley to fill the role of vice Giannelli, revealing moreover a great service and perhaps unexpected jump float. In the most difficult moments of the three matches, Stoytchev has relied on his service (against Calzedonia and Civitanova) and later also to his direction (in Tours) to reverse the negative trend, finding immediate answers from twin brother of Valentin (in Trento during the 2010/11 treble season). "It is not easy to get into critical situations and be able to always provide a significant contribution to the team, but I'm glad to be able to be considered important by the coach and especially in these circumstances” - said Bratoev-. “I prefer to find space in such occasions rather than enter when the score is very reassuring or completely compromise; this is a great incentive to show my qualities.”
"The point collected in France is very valuable, because it allows us to remain in command of Champions’ Pool C.” - continued Georgi - “We’re sorry for the defeat and it’s a shame not to have crowned with another success our comeback, but Tours has proven to be a different team than the one seen on December 2nd in PalaTrento and then, also having forced them to play the tie-break can be considered a good result. I have been in Trento for less than two months and I'm happy that I'm living this experience; I played in many places, including Russia, but for me this is the first real experience in a European championship senior. Trentino Volley is a company organized as a few others in the world, players have only to think of playing because everything else is taken care by the staff and the management structure: an athlete can not ask for anything better. It’s also nice to see the PalaTrento often filled with fans; against Monza on Sunday evening, we'll try to give our audience another victory. The Gi Group is a good team, in the leg match has often put us in difficulty, but at home we have really a major plus and we will prove it again."
