Report of the match. iatec Trentino’s starting six doesn’t differ from Sunday night’s match in Padova, with Kovacevic out for injury, Giannelli setter, Lanza and Hoag as spikers, Eder and Zingel middle-blockers, De Pandis as libero. For Ravenna Orduna is the setter opposite to Buchegger, with Poglajen and Marechal wing spikers, Diamantini and Georgiev middle-blockers and Goi libero. The home team has a better start and takes the lead with Buchegger (4-7); Trento responds with two blocks (Vettori and Zingel) and Lanza (9-8). The set is in equilibrium until Marechal digs a gap (14-17) and Lorenzetti has to call a time out. Lanza and the team suffer (19-22) but keep up (22-22) with Ravenna, and annul 5 set balls before wasting the only one for them: Poglajen scores an ace on Lanza.
Diatec has a strong reaction and takes the lead (7-4) thanks to the serve; but the same does Buchegger with 4 consecutive aces, with two more blocks by Georgiev (10-14). Ravenna is on fire, Marechal leads the team (12-19) supported by the middle-blockers.
In the third set the fight is tough, point to point, and Trento tries to dig a gap (8-6), but Marechal closes in (10-10). Giannelli blocks Buchegger, Eder scores for the +2 (15-13). Ravenna strikes back (16-16) with blocks and attacks and wins the third set (18-21, 23-20) with Poglajen.
