For the past ten seasons to the first team squad of Trentino Volley regularly welcomes at least one product of the yellow-blues youth sector on his absolute debut in the National Championship. The tradition will be respected even during the 2016/17 sports year: to renew it will be the libero Matteo Chiappa who, after completing the whole rigmarole in Trentino nursery and had a positive year in Bolzano (Series B1), from August will land in Super League to wear the jersey of the Diatec Trentino.
Chiappa, just turned twenty-three years and 190 cm in height, then returns to the "parent" after playing a thickness championship in South Tyrol, which has permanently changed the role (from spiker to libero) showing quickly significant performance. With Trentino Volley in the recent past he has played two championships in Series B1 and as many in Series B2, seizing the 2012/13 season also the second place in the Italian Junior League.
By coming into the first team, he will try to trace the path already trodden in recent years by Simone Giannelli, Tiziano Mazzone, Carlo De Angelis (which will be paid in Serie A2 to mature experience as a regular) and earlier by Filippo Lanza and Gabriele Nelli, proposing in perspective as a potential alternative to the owner Massimo Colaci.
Player with outstanding quality as receiver, developed thanks to long spent in the fourth place, for Chiappa, who will start in late October, will be even the eleventh season with Trentino Volley; he lived the last one in 2014/15 in the team coached by Francesco Conci that debuted in B1 Series.

"I'm really ready and happy to be able to dress the jersey of the first team, for me is a dream that comes true” - said Matteo Chiappa -. “My career, with the exception of last season, has always seen me play for Trentino Volley; for almost twelve years this has been my club and in my heart I always hoped, sooner or later, to be inserted in the Super League squad. I will play with the shirt of libero, a role that I started to play after playing so many championships as a spiker, and that motivates me a lot because I was able to immediately get great satisfaction in Bolzano. For technical features I’m definitely more devoted to critical reception than to the defense, which I want to improve thanks to the workouts in the gym with very strong players. I have to thank Dario Simoni, who actually recommended my name to the Company and who has closely followed me during the month of workouts that we held in June to PalaTrento along with many other players under 23."
