A born into the profession, who already knows very well Trento and Trentino, is taking part to the team Champions of Italy. After purchasing the middle-blocker Simon Van de Voorde and Daniel Mazzone, the 2015 summer market of Trentino Volley has chosen Oleg Antonov as an important reinforcement to the spikers for coach Radostin Stoytchev.-
He will turn twenty-seven years in a month, the outside hitter of Russian origin but Italian passport was hired from Tours (which last season won everything in France) and he is the son of Jaroslav, unforgotten opposite in the Russian National, silver medal at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
Following his father in one of his first experiences as a coach (between 2001 and 2003 coached from the bench Volley Mezzolombardo Serie B1), Oleg knew Trentino starting to play volleyball in this province before entering the Youth sector of Sisley Treviso, where in 2006 he made h is debut in Serie A1 at the age of seventeen. Later, his career has developed between Mantua and Genoa (Series A2), Treviso and Belluno, Cuneo (where he played for two seasons playing a final of Champions League) and then last season in transalpine land, where he earned the call with the Italian National Team, with which in recent weeks has already played six games. He wears the light-blue T-shirt because, despite being born in Moscow, Antonov has made the first registration of his career in Italy in 2002 and can play to all effects with the Italian status after signing for the double passport just last March 31st in Silea (Treviso).
He is an athlete with excellent basic first-line and effective serve (Berruto is taking advantages of his particular skills during the World League): therefore he returns to Trentino for at least two seasons (the contract signed it is biennial) offering to Radostin Stoytchev, who strongly wanted, an alternative in place four.
"Oleg is an athlete still young, promising, that can play with the Italian status. Therefore there are all the bases to build a project on him and that's what we will do in the next two seasons together ”- confirmed the coach of Trentino Volley - . “He has interesting technical skills related to a very good service and a good attack, but also has important human qualities and that is why we want to bet on him. The references we have received about him are really very positive: he is a boy who wants to grow, to work and for this reason he is perfect for the idea of the group that we are preparing for next season ."
Also the General Manager Bruno Da Re is very satisfied: he rediscovers Oleg as a player of his team after six years since the last time, tied to Treviso: " Antonov is a player that I have seen grow in the Sisley’s Youth sector and a pleasure to find him now here in Trento” – said the Manager from Veneto - . “I am convinced that an element of his value will be very useful from all points of view in a season full of commitments, as it announces the next one ".
