Preparation: gialloblù scored 4-0 in the first of two weekend tests against Dachau

The weekend of joint training sessions with Asv Volleys Dachau begins with a decisive victory for the Itas Trentino men's team. This evening at the BTS Arena, the "gialloblù" got the better of the Germans with a 4-0 win in the first of two scheduled tests (the second on Saturday afternoon).
Compared to their previous match nine days earlier against Mantua, the Italian Champions showed greater physical and technical brilliance, which allowed them to always lead the challenge without ever giving their opponents a chance to breathe. Coach Marcelo Mendez, in his first albeit unofficial time on the Trentino Volley bench, took the opportunity to see the five available players from the official squad in action (only Sandu was on precautionary rest). The coach received good feedback, especially from the serve (scored eight times), the outside hitters (Bristot with 16 points, 58% attack efficiency, and two aces; Ramon with 17 points, 54% efficiency, two blocks, and a serving ace), and from the centre of the net by newly arrived Simon Torwie. The German immediately went into double figures (13 points with four blocks, one ace and 62% in the first half of the match), already showing an excellent understanding with Acquarone and a remarkable physical condition, evidently developed during the preparation for the recent World Championship.
“I am satisfied with what I saw in this test and, more generally, with what the players have done since I have arrived in Trento,” explained the new Itas Trentino coach Marcelo Mendez at the end of the match. “Serving and attacking are definitely the fundamentals in which we worked best, but we also respected the goals we set for ourselves in blocking and defense.”
The two teams will meet again at the BTS Arena in Trento as early as Saturday afternoon for the second and final joint training session of the weekend; kick-off whistle scheduled for 4pm (live streaming on www.trentinovolley.it/trentinovolleytv).
