A talented player, who already knows the Italian Championship very well, is one of the new players for the 2017/18 season of Trentino Volley. After De Pandis, the summer market 2017 of the yellow-blue Club offers a new important player in area 4: annual contract for Nicholas Hoag.
He will be 25 in August; the Canadian hitter comes from a positive year in Milan (where he scored 303 points in 29 matches) and his father is Glenn, a world-class trainer who has often played against Trentino Volley with the teams of Bled and Izmir.
It is thanks to his father's teachings that he has become a player with a technical completeness and is able to play in several roles; in the national team he often plays as opposite because he has good fundamentals of first line and an important international experience. Although he is still young, Hoag has already played 50 official matches with the national team (with which he has won the gold medal in the NORCECA 2015, where he was mvp, and the bronze medal in the World League 2017) and has won three championships and two cups in France, the country where he has played with Tours and Paris before coming to Italy.
I have known Nicholas since he was a little boy because his father Glenn Hoag and I have been friends for a long time and I could see him grow – explained the trainer of Trentino Volley Angelo Lorenzetti -. He has always been an adaptable player who has played at the highest level during his last season in France when he helped Paris to win the championship. His first season in Italy wasn’t very lucky also due to some physical problems, but he still remains an athlete with great offensive abilities, especially in service and pipe attack. We will work together in order to make him grow in continuity and completeness”.
Nicholas Hoag will have the number 3 and will be the second Canadian player in the history of Trentino Volley after Steve Brinkman, middle blocker who played in Trento in the season 2011/12. He will be the last player who will be available to the staff since he will be committed with the national team until October 1st in Colorado Springs (USA) to play the NORCECA.
