Trento, 30th January 2017

The day after the defeat in the Final of Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2017 Diatec Trentino had some time off to regain energies after a hard weekend at Unipol Arena and to try to turn over a new leaf after the 3-1 against Cucine Lube Civitanova. There are two away matches scheduled for this week: on Thursday afternoon (at 5.30 pm) in Finland for the away match of the 8th-finals of 2017 CEV Cup, on Sunday evening (at 6 pm) in Busto Arsizio for the twenty-first round of SuperLega against Revivre Milano.
After losing a final it is always difficult to say if it was a great satisfaction being able to play it or if it is a disappointment having lost it – said Simon Van de Voorde, one of the best players of Diatec Trentino in the Final Four with 21 points, 8 blocks and 72% in attack in two matches played -. We are only half happy, but I think it is a normal feeling; during the weekend we showed that we can play at high level. The best things have been shown against Modena: we won against a team that hasn’t been losing for 2 years in this competition. We did a good job as a team, playing with concentration and attention. The information we collected and the potentialities shown in that match are a good starting point in view of the final rush of the season. In the final Lube has played better than we did, especially in the second half of the match. In the first part we managed to play well point-by-point, but their quality has made the difference. It is always a second place, got against a great team after defeating many other strong teams”.
“It was a positive weekend for me –
added the middle blocker -. I managed to play at good levels, I felt I had an active role in the matches, but I would have traded my positive performances for two negatives ones and the final victory. Starting from Tuesday we will try to turn over a new leaf, also because we have to think about the next commitments. On Thursday we will play in Finland in Coppa CEV, while on Sunday we will play against Milano in SuperLega. We still have two big objectives; with the training in the gym and the will of growing shown in the last two matches I think that this team can aim to play other finals”.
On Tuesday morning the team will resume training in the weights room at PalaTrento for the first training session of the two scheduled for that day. The day after, on Wednesday 1st February, the departure to Sastamala.
