Trento, 15th December 2016

During this weekend Trentino Volley will play the second match of the return round of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/2017 and will face newly promoted Biosì Indexa Sora at PalaTrento in the early match. On Friday night the match will also be broadcasted live on TV on RAI Sport 1 and on the radio on Radio Dolomiti, starting at 8:30pm.

HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After almost twenty days away from the home court Yellow-blues will be playing again in front of the home crowd, where every match has been won (six win out of six games). Having the chance to be supported by the fans will be an extra motivation for the team in order to continue the great season, especially after the setbacks occurred against Molfetta and Vibo Valentia in the last two games.

“It’s an important moment under different perspectives - Diatec Trentino’s coach Angelo Lorenzetti explained- and will have to find the right mindset and a high level performance. We will play against Sora, a team who managed to play at high levels, thanks to an effective sideout and a really strong defense. Our opponents will approach the match more relaxed than us, while we have to get over this difficult period, when things didn’t come as easy as expected. But I think it’s somehow natural to experience some complicated situations; what’s most important is stepping in the match court with the right attitude and the will to improve, something the team is really doing.”

Every player of Diatec Trentino will be available and coach Lorenzetti will then be free to choose the best line-up; as usual, the options are between Nelli and Stokr as opposite, between Mazzone and Van de Voorde as second middle-blocker. This evening’s training and last session on Friday morning will provide the indication.

On Friday night Trentino Volley will play its 681st official match (stats: 474wins, 206 losses) and the 22nd during current season; at PalaTrento the team has been unbeaten since 25 of April (last ko against Modena 1-3).

THE RIVALS Despite the fourteen matches, Biosì Indexa Sora has found quickly its place in the championship of SuperLega. After a particularly difficult start due to the timetable (in the first four rounds faced apart from Trento also Modena, Perugia and Civitanova), the team delegated to Bruno Bagnoli (who has trained Trentino Volley in its first seasons between 2000 and 2003, achieving 40 victories in 88 matches) has in fact started to propose its own play actions without qualms, being able to face a large part of the adversary’s teams on a level playing field . Cherry on the top of the first part of season particularly positive and characterize by twelve points and four victories, it reached the match on Wednesday evening thanks to the success at  PalaOlimpia of Verona, that will allow the players from Lazio to play the second knock-out of Coppa Italia in Modena next January 11th. Between the most important protagonists of Biosì Indexa’s best period, the captain Rosso (one of the first ten strikers of the championship) and two foreign players as the Bulgarian setter Seganov (in the last season made the whole preparation for the pre championship period in  Trento) and the Byelorussian opposite Miskevich. This player has shown the efficient he is, despite the young age: 253 points score in fourteen matches, the fifth place in the ranking list of defenders and the price mvp of November in the championship proved that. The experience of the other Bulgarian player, the middle-blocker Gotsev, and the Russian spiker Kalinin (ex Dinamo Mosca and Ufa) are important value added in a roster where the beginners are basically seven.
PRECEDENTS The only one precedent between the two Clubs is the match of the first half of the season which has been played in Lazio on October 9th 2016 for the second day of SuperLega. On that occasion Diatec Trentino won 3-0 (sets: 25-23, 25-16, 25-17), showing a great service (10 aces, 3 of Lanza) and the young diagonal setter-opposite Giannelli (mvp) and Nelli (best scorer with 13 points and 56% in attack).

REFEREES The match will be directed by Bruno Frapiccini (from Ancona, in Serie A since 2002) and by Daniele Zucca (from Trieste, in Serie A since 2001). They are at their first direction together in SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17, the fifth for Frapiccini (the only precedent with Trentino Volley on 2nd February 2013, home victory against Latina, 3-0), the seventh for Zucca, who during this season has already directed Trento-Vibo 3-0 on 2nd October and Verona-Trento 0-3 on 9th November.
