The home debut at PalaTrento and more generally the one in SuperLega Unipolsai 2017/18 is more and more imminent for Diatec Trentino, which keeps on with its training programme towards the match of Sunday October 15th versus Revivre Milano.
In view of the match with Andrea Giani’s team, today the yellow-blues participate to a double session of training, whereas in the weekend they will participate to other two sessions between the early afternoon of Saturday and Sunday morning (final training). Coach Angelo Lorenzetti will have the whole roster of thirteen players at his disposal.
The championship debut versus Milano at PalaTrento won’t be a news for Trentino Volley: in the past, already in season 2002/03, happened that in the first day of championship the yellow-blue team had to play versus a team from Milano (Asystel in that case, a different team from the actual Revivre). The memory is absolutely pleasant, because in that circumstance (on October 26th 2002) the Club obtained its first victory on its championship debut, winning 3-1. In the two previous seasons (2000/01 and 2001/02) the debut coincided with two defeats.
Playing in front of its public the first match of regular season has become at the same time a nice habit for the Club of via Trener. In the past already Trentino Volley played its debut matches twelve times on seventeen previous participations: in addition to the already mentioned match of season 2002/03, can be reported the debuts of 2004/05 (1-3 defeat versus Perugia), 2005/06 (3-0 victory versus Padova), 2006/07 (tie break defeat versus Taranto), 2008/09 (3-0 victory versus Forlì), 2009/10 (3-1 victory versus Latina), 2010/2011 (3-0 victory versus Castellana Grotte), 2011/2012 (3-0 victory versus Monza), 2012/13 (1-3 defeat versus Vibo), 2013/14 (3-2 victory versus Latina), 2014/15 (3-0 victory versus Padova) and 2016/17 (3-0 victory versus Vibo).
The championship debut match brought a smile in ten occasions: in addition to the nine home victories just mentioned, must be added the success obtained on October 28th 2015 versus Monza in the first day of championship 2015/16. The one gained in Brianza was, inter alia, the only one victory for Trento in a away debut match; in all the other four cases arrived a defeat.
