The playoffs Super League UnipolSai 2016 start tomorrow, with Game 1 of the quarter finals. In the first round of the draw, Diatec Trentino will challenge Exprivia Molfetta in the best of five games series that will award a pass to the semifinals. The comparison will kick off tomorrow evening - on Thursday, March 10th - at the PalaTrento: the kick-off is scheduled at 8.30 pm broadcasted live on Radio Dolomiti and free live streaming on Volleyball League on www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After a final third place in the regular season, the league leading defense on the jersey for the Italian champions continues in the playoffs, in which - as happened in the same phase of the board last season - will once again be Molfetta to contend the pass to the semifinals. Despite having to deal with longtime defections (Lanza and Djuric can not be used even on this occasion), for this match Diatec Trentino can however count on a spiker in addition, such as the great Matey Kaziyski. The most prolific player in the history of Trentino Volley arrived in Trento already on Tuesday night and this afternoon claimed his first training session with the group presenting himself as an important alternative in higher ball already starting from tomorrow.
"The return of Matey is without a doubt very important because it will give us a big hand in an emergency times like this” - said Radostin Stoytchev presenting the event. -”But we should not expect miraculous changes in our game or miracles; to be able to overtake Molfetta we have to train and think above all to the team dynamics improving our mechanisms. Despite his arrival, our situation is not simple; moreover Molfetta is a team that has already been able to put us in difficulty during this season so nothing is obvious. The Apulian have players who can change the game or even a series of challenges at any time, serve so much attention and concentration as early as Game 1”.
For the debut in the Play Off Championship UnipolSai 2016, the Bulgarian coach should recover Massimo Colaci (who rested for a back problem last Sunday in Civitanova Marche) and may decide to let wear the jersey of second libero to Carlo De Angelis, bringing to the bench five hitters, including Tiziano Mazzone.
Those that will start tomorrow will be the eighths playoffs in Matey Kaziyski’s career, the player who in the Trentuno house boasts the highest number of appearances in post-season phase (the same number of the technician Radostin Stoytchev than in the previous seven came always in the final) while the absolute beginners are three: the middle-blocker Daniele Mazzone, the setter Georgi Bratoev and the libero Carlo De Angelis. Tomorrow night Trentino Volley will play the official game number 647^ of its history and will go in search of the 453^ absolute victory, the 232^ in PalaTrento.
PREVIOUSLY Tomorrow Trentino Volley and Volley Molfetta will compete for the eleventh time in their history; more than half of the meetings were played in the last eleven months, between mid-April 2015 and mid-February 2016 the two companies have in fact played six games, including matches of the regular season and challenges of the quarterfinals of the playoffs Championship and Italian Cup. The total budget is conducive to Diatec Trentino for 7-3, but the one referring to the current season is perfect equality (2-2) by means of victories from Puglia in the first leg of the Super League (0-3 on November 25th, with partial 21-25, 21-25, 20-25) and in the return of the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup at PalaTrento (2-3 on January 16th with partial 25-15, 27-29, 27-29, 25 -21, 13-15) and those obtained by the Italian champions on December 22nd in PalaPoli in the first leg of the Italian Cup quarter with partial 25-22, 25-22, 25-13 and on February 14th at home with scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-20. At PalaTrento five are the previous meetings: four victories for Trento (all 3-0) and one external affirmation.
SERIES The quarter finals are played to the best of five games; switches over the team that in the series won three matches. After Game 1 of tomorrow, the duelists will be back on the field PalaPoli of Molfetta for Game 2 on Sunday 13th at 5.00 pm. Game 3 will be re-scheduled in Trentino on Saturday, March 19th at 8.30 pm, while any Game 4 (if any it needs) would be scheduled on Sunday, March 27th in the Puglia (at 6.00 pm) and Game 5 instead will be played at PalaTrento on Sunday, April 3rd (at 6.00 pm). Those who exceed the turn will be in the semifinals with the winner of Modena vs. Padova. The other two quarterfinals in the upper part of the draw are Civitanova vs. Latina and Verona vs. Perugia.
REFEREES The race will be refereed by Rossella Piana (from Modena in Serie A since 2005 and internationally since 2014) and Daniele Rapisarda, second whistle of Udine, in role since 2002 and internationally since 2011. The two are in their second season joint direction of maximum men's championship: the tenth for Piana (who previously directed Trento vs. Monza 3-1 on December 20th), the twelfth for Rapisarda (who refereed in PalaTrento Trento vs. Modena 3-2 on November 22nd and for Trento vs. Molfetta 2-3 on January 14th - the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup).
