Trento, 6th December 2016
Official opening of 2017 CEV Cup, the second most important European competition for Clubs, in which also Diatec Trentino will participate again. Between Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th December the home matches of 32nd-finals, first round of the single-elimination tournament; the away matches between 20th and 22nd of December.
Diatec Trentino will take part for the third time in this tournament thanks to the third place of regular season of SuperLega of the last season, but it will play from the next round (16th-finals). However, it will obviously have a look at the results of the first round with great interest.
The Yellow-blue team will carefully monitor the match between the Finnish team Hurrikaani Loimaa and the Bulgarian team Dobrudja 07 Dobrich. The winner will play against Lanza and his team-mates on 4th January (away match) and on 18th January 2017 (home match at PalaTrento). The playing format is unchanged: the team with the highest score between the two matches will have access to the next round. The points are given like in the Italian SuperLega: 3 for the victory 3-0 or 3-1, 2 for the victory at tie-breaker, 1 for the defeat at tie-breaker (golden set at 15 in case of tie). No matter who the adversary will be, in the first month of 2017 Trentino Volley will play a never-before-seen away match: in its over-ten-year experience in European Cups, the Club of via Trener has never played in Finland or Bulgaria, both among the few countries that aren’t part of the European map of Diatec Trentino.
