Trento, 14th April 2017

The second match of final 2017 CEV Cup is scheduled for Saturday April 15th in France. After the 3-0 victory in the first match on Wednesday evening at PalaTrento, Trentino Diatec will play at Salle Robert Grenon the second and last challenge to establish the winner of the CEV Cup (second most important competition after Champions League). The match will start at 8.30 p.m. (Italian time) and will be broadcasted live by Radio Dolomiti. Live streaming is available on the internet at the link www.laola1.tv.

HERE TRENTINO DIATEC The success obtained in three sets on Wednesday evening allowed the yellow-blue team to take a first important step forward on the path that can let it write its name in the hall of fame of the continental competitions. To achieve this goal the team from Trento needs to show its character and strength in a difficult match against Tours, that hasn’t been beaten in this edition of the CEV Cup yet.

The team played the first match well, with the right amount of competitiveness. However, that was another match - declared coach Angelo Lorenzetti -. On Saturday everything will be more difficult for us and we must be ready to struggle and this is how it should be as we will be playing a final of an international competition. From this point of view, the recent experience in Istanbul, where we faced several difficulties against Fenerbahce, can be very useful for us. Besides, it can help me in making the guys understand that the path towards the final victory is still long and complicated”.

The team, that has arrived in Tours in the late morning with a direct flight from Verona and with all fourteen players at its disposal, will train on the field for the first time this evening and on Saturday morning for the finishing touches. Two fundamental moments to find the point of reference in a building which is cosy but at the same time spacious -. On this occasion the libero Massimo Coalci will celebrate its 340th official match wearing the yellow-blue colours: he’s the second players of Trentino Volley that has played the highest number of matches ever. The libero from the region of Puglia will place himself before Andrea Bari (in Trentino Diatec until 2013 ith a total of 339 matches) but after Emanuele Birarelli (345).

FOURTH AWAY MATCH IN FRANCE EVER FOR TRENTNO VOLLEY What has begun this morning and will end on Easter Day (the team will arrive in Trento in the morning) is the fourth away match in France ever in the whole history of Trentino Volley. Last precedent in this country dates backs to a game in Tours on 16th December 2015. On that occasion the yellow-blue players were competing for Champions League (defeat at the tie break), whereas the first time (on 11th November 2008 in Beauvais – victory in three sets) was the first away game ever for Trentino Volley in CEV Champions League.

EUROPEAN FIGURES FOR TRENTINO VOLLEY This is the sixth participation in a European final for Trentino Volley, the tenth one ever at international level. On Saturday evening the Club of via Trener will take part in its 104th match of European Cups (until this moment the team has played 74 games in Champions League, 3 in Top Teams and 26 in CEV). The yellow-blue players have collected 85 victories and 18 defeats. In the previous two participations in CEV Cup, the adventure of Trentino Volley ended at round of 32 in the edition of 2005, after a 3-1 defeat against Halkbank Ankara, and in the edition of 2015 in final, as it was beaten at the golden set by Dinamo. In away matches the Club of via Trener was successful on forty-four occasions (last time on March 1st in Piacenza) out of fifty-six matches. The most recent defeat in an away match is the 2-3 registered in Turkey against Fenerbahce Sk Istanbul in the last game played far from Trento.

THE OPPONENTS The 0-3 defeat of Wednesday night at PalaTrento is the first defeat in 2017 CEV Cup for Tours. Before that Medei's team had won ten matches in a row (from the round of sixty-four to the semifinal). Some of those victories were also very prestigious like against Salonicco and Rheinmain. In order to overturn the result of the first match the French team will count on the field factor, something that often in this season helped them. In seventeen matches played during this season, Konecny and his teammates only lost two (against Paris in regular season and against Tolosa in the Play Off); but this was not enough to get to the semifinals of the national Champioship, in which Tolosa defeated Tours in two matches. The  2017 CEV Cup remains the last goal for this season for a team that, like Trentino Volley, did not win anything since 2015. The roster of Tours Vb: 1. Guilermo Hernan Ruperez (setter), 2. Hubert Henno (libero), 3. Thomas Nevot (setter), 5. Quentin Jouffroy (middle blocker), 6. David Konecny (opposite), 8. Ryley Barnes (spiker), 9. Adam White (spiker), 10. Theo Conre (s), 11. Daniel Jansen Vandoorn (mb), 12. Philipp Collin (mb), 14. Stanislas Rabiller (s), 16. Levi Alves Cabral (s), 17. Martin Masson (l), 18. Antoine Fleury (s). Coach Giampaolo Medei.

TRENTINO VOLLEY WILL WIN THE TROPHY IF… 2017 CEV Cup final is like the previous rounds, it will be played in two matches (home and away) like in the other knock-out rounds (round of sixty four, round of thirty-two, round of sixteen, quarterfinals and semifinals): the team who will win the trophy is the one who gain most points, that will be given like in the Championship: 3 points for a 3-0 or 3-1 victory, 2 points for a tie break win, 1 point for the tie break loss (golden set at 15 in case of tie – same as the Playoffs 12 of CEV Champions League). After the 3-0 home win (25-14, 25-19, 25-17), Trentino Diatec will have to win at least two sets of the regular match to win the trophy. The golden set will be played only if Tours win the match in maximum four sets.
THE PRECEDENTS There are already five precedents between the two teams, this means that Tours is at the fifth place in the ranking of the international team who played against Trentino Volley during its history, after Moscow (8), Kazan (7), Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Maaseik (6). The outcome is 4-1 for Trento, that won 3-0 all the home matches (5th December 2012, 2nd December 2015 and 12th April 2017) and the first one played in France (1st November). The French team won only on 16th December 2015 (3-2 in the match of the Pool C of Champions League).
THE REFEREES The match will be refereed by the Greek Alexandros Mylonakis, first referee from Athens and by the Polish Jaroslaw Makowski, second referee from Stettino. The only referee who has precedents with Trentino Volley is Mylonakis, who refereed on the 28th of March 2015 the second leg of the semifinal in 2015 CEV Cup. The yelow-blue won that match at PalaTrento against Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle 3-1, gaining the access to the final.
