Belgorod (Russia), March 21st, 2016
It will be played tomorrow night, on Tuesday, March 22nd, in Russia the return match of Playoffs Game 6 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, the second and final knockout stage before the Final Four of Krakow (April 16th-17th). The Italian champions of Trentino Diatec will face in Russia the hosts of Belogorie Belgorod, strong of the 3-0 obtained in the first leg match. The kick-off is scheduled at 5.00 pm Italian time (7.00 pm in Russia), broadcasted live on Fox Sports TV, Radio Dolomiti and on www.laola1.tv.
HERE TRENTINO DIATEC After two very important successes in three sets obtained in within three days at PalaTrento, the team from Trentino faces the most important away match in the season in order to get another high profile result. If they win at least two sets the qualification for the semi-finals would be in fact secure, bringing Trentino Volley among the four best teams in Europe after an absence of four years. To succeed, the Company of via Trener has treated with great attention the approaching appointment, reaching Belgorod already on Sunday evening and exploiting the entire day today to acclimate and train.
"The first leg match gave us a great result also accompanied by a beautiful team performance but to be able to pass we have to confirm ouselves also in the second leg” - warns Radostin Stoytchev. -”The pitfalls presented by the Regulation in this two-round competitions are always great and they are even more so in this case because the Belgorod is a physical and talented team that can change its structure at any time when they have many alternatives. We need the same determination and the same approach to Thursday's game."
For this event the coach of Trentino Diatec can not count on Kaziyski (not usable in the Champions League) and De Angelis (problem in his knee), who remained in Trento to work in a differentiated manner. Lanza and Djuric instead appear recovered (both took part of Saturday’s match for short clips against Molfetta), but in the high trio ball there will still be room for the Italian-Russian Oleg Antonov and Gabriele Nelli.
FIFTH TRANSFER EVER TO RUSSIA IN THE HISTORY OF TRENTINO VOLLEY Between Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon (the return to Trento is expected around 2.00 pm on March 23rd) Trentino Volley is going to experience the fifth trip ever to Russia in its own history, country where until now the team has collected only a (bitter) victory; a little less than eleven months ago (on April 11th, 2015) in fact, the Yellow-blues disputed the final return of the 2015 CEV Cup in Dinamo Moscow winning for 3-1 the official race but then losing the golden set which forced Stoytchev’s team to leave the trophy in the Russian capital. The first trip ever took place six years ago in Moscow: it was January 5th, 2010 and the Yellow-blues against Dinamo got the first defeat ever in their CEV Champions League’s history, succumbing 3-1 in the opening game of the second round of Pool A. Later, still in the Champions League, there were also defeated 3-2 again in Moscow (on January 15th, 2013, round of Playoffs 12) and 3-0 in Belgorod (on February 5th, 2015, round of Playoffs 6), where, therefore, the Company of via Trener has set foot in these days in just over two years away.
Tomorrow evening Trentino Volley will play the 651^ official match in its history (455 victories and 195 defeats the budget), the 40th season (29 claims and 10 knockouts), the 72^ ever in the CEV Champions League, an event in which it hasn’t lost since December 16th, 2015 (lost at the tie-break in Tours).
TRENTINO DIATEC QUALIFIES TO THE FINAL FOUR IF... Thanks to the success in the first leg match for 3-0 (partial 25-20, 25-17, 28-26), Trentino Diatec to overcome the turn must win two sets in tomorrow evening’s race; the Yellow-blues will be able to lose even at the tie-break to avoid the hypothesis golden set with Belgorod, that will be played then, only in case of victory at most in four sets (3-0 or 3-1) of the Russians. Who passes the turn will enter the Final Four on April 16th-17th in Krakow (Poland), to which has already qualified only Asseco Resovia. Depending on the nationality of the last other qualified teams will then be possible to define the pair of semi-finals.
THE FORMULA AND OTHER MATCHES Tomorrow's match will be valid for the return of 6 Playoffs 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League; by this series of races, Thursday evening will be possible to know the names of the three qualified team for the Final Four. Will obtain the access to the Poland’s matches the team that gets the most points over the two legs; points are awarded as in the league: 3 for a victory of 3-0 or 3-1, 2 for the success at the tie-break, 1 for a defeat at the tie-break.
The other two challenges program (in brackets the first leg result); on Wednesday Halkbank Ankara vs. Cucine Lube Civitanova (2-3), on Thursday PGE Skra Belchatow Zenit vs. Kazan (3-2).
PREVIOUSLY The two teams have already met for three official matches before; the balance is favorable to the Russians 2-1 with two victories 3-0 obtained in the same stage of the 2014 edition of the tournament: in Belgorod on February 5, 2014 (partial 25-20, 25-20, 25-18) and in PalaTrento on February 13th, 2014 with scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-22. The only Yellow-blues victory is instead referred to the first leg match played five days ago in PalaTrento. Against Russian teams, the Company Champion of Italy has a total of sixteen previous ones, considering the five games against Zenit Kazan and the eight one played against Dinamo Moscow: the budget is ten victories and six defeats.
