The students of Istituto di Istruzione Superiore (Secondary High School) Don Milani in Rovereto have appreciated the visit of Matteo Chiappa and Gabriele Nelli. In the great hall of the school there were hundreds of boys and girls taking part in this meeting: about thirty of them came from Camerino, a small city in the region of Marche that was affected by the earthquake, and have been hosted by their peers in the last few days.
Diatec Trentino’s libero and opposite-hitter have described their experience as top-class athletes. “It’s not always easy to combine it with education but it’s possible; mental organization athletes acquire by playing volleyball continuously can be useful even at school” explained Nelli. “I’m trying to bring forward both my sporting career and my education, as I think they are equally important and mine are not words of circumstances” stated Chiappa, admitting that despite the several official events with Trentino Volley he is attending the Faculty of Literature and he would like to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Heritage. Students have asked the two players many questions of all types. “I’m almost 210 cm tall and my shoes size is 54: it’s hard to believe but it’s the truth” admitted Nelli who then invited the students to move closer to compare heights and shoes sizes. “Playing at PalaTrento it’s easier as we can count on the support of four thousand supporters that incite us, whereas in away matches it’s more difficult for us. The secret? Cover your ears if you’re catcalled and concentrate on the ball” explained Chiappa. At the end of this meeting, there was time for an outdoor practical demonstration and for volleyball tournaments of the Institute with the two special guests.
