Match n. 335 wearing the yellow-blue shirt of Trentino Volley is what has made Massimo Colaci the third most attending players of the Sport club of via Trener, overtaking Kaziyski. This match didn’t meet the expectations of the libero. Despite the good performance of the second line, made up of good percentages in reception and of many defences, on Saturday night the libero of Diatec Trentino together with his team-mates collected a defeat at PalaEvangelisti in Perugia, with a consequent tie in the series of semi-final Championship play-offs UnipolSai 2017. The player from the region of Puglia doesn’t over-dramatise and, after the end of match 2, analyzed the performance of the whole team with great insight. “What have made the difference in this game are plenty of errors we’ve made in the fourth set, as previously we have played well in a head-to-head match against our opponents, who proved to be strong in away games – explained Max -. In that phase of the match we’ve made too many errors performing services and in attack. This game was made up of ups and downs but I think that this is normal in such a balanced and inevitably long series of play-offs. We expected such a difficult match 2 and Perugia played better than us. Now we’re going to start from 1-1: anything can happen”.
Our main regret regarding the match on Saturday night in Perugia is that we didn’t take advantage of many break points we had conquered – continued Colaci – and it’s normal that when you don’t take advantage of these situations, strong teams like Perugia are able to defeat you. In order to take the lead again we’ll try to derive the maximum benefit from home court advantage in match 3, that will take place in two weeks. Meanwhile, we will play other 2 matches of CEV Cup against FenerBahce; this will be our occasion to keep the pace of the game high and try to move forward in this European tournament”.
To prepare for the first match of semi-final of 2017 CEV Cup, scheduled for Tuesday 28th at PalaTrento (at 8.30 p.m., presale tickets available online too at the link http://www.vivaticket.it/ita/event/2017-cev-cup-trentino-diatec-fenerbahce/95730), Trentino Volley will start to train again on Monday afternoon. Oleg Antonov will train by himself from Saturday evening.
