Trento, November 24th 2017

After one month without victories, yesterday night Diatec Trentino defeated Latina during the eighth match of 2017/18 SuperLega Unipolsai regular season also thanks to the outstanding performance of Eder Carbonera. The Brazilian middle-blocker joined Trento this summer coming from Fundi Taubatè and last night he was unanimously declared MVP of the match: sixteen points scored, four direct aces, eight blocks and decisive plays in the hottest moments of the game.
The great performance the PalaTrento crowd has admired against Latina allowed him to enter the exclusive club of the best blockers in the history of Trentino Volley; with eight blocks in a single match he places at third place in the “all-time best blockers” rank, behind Djula Mester (against Rome on October 21st 2001) and Emanuele Birarelli (against Dinamo Moscow on April 11th 2015), who are tied up at 10.  The whole team performed brilliantly in this fundamental yesterday, as proved by the 19 total blocks scored; the last time Trentino Volley had such a high score was on February 24th 2016 against Milano.
“We worked very hard to improve and play better than in the last few games; we knew we could do more - said the blocker hailing from Farroupilha -. The match against Latina is a clear example of that: we lost badly the first two sets, then we woke up and won the match. Therefore, I am really happy about the result but also about the performance as a group. We are ready to get back to work and get better, but first let me congratulate my teammates”.
Diatec Trentino trained this afternoon in PalaTrento preparing for the match on Sunday night against Wixo Lpr at PalaBanca in Piacenza (live on Radio Dolomiti and Lega Volley Channel at 6pm). The team will leave from Trento on Saturday afternoon after training in PalaTrento.
