Trento, October 16th 2017

The direct elimination match that will take place on Wednesday the 18th October in PalaTrento against Monza is inaugurating the 16th participation in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup of Trentino Volley, in the space of its 18th years of activity. The team missed the final phase of this competition only two times: in its debut year in the A1 series (2000/2001, when it was eliminated by Cuneo during the preliminary stage) and in the last Lattari's year with the team (2006/2007).  The Club of Via Trener passed the quarterfinals ten times, so reaching the Final Four: in the seasons 2001/2002 (won 3-2 against Montichiari in Forlì), 2005/2006 winning against Macerata performing a 3-1 in Ferrara, 2009/2010 in PalaTrento winning 3-0 against Perugia, in 2010/2011 when it defeated Monza in PalaTrento with a 3-0, in 2011/2012 when the team defeated Vibo Valentia with a 3-0 in our home field, in  2012/2013 when it won against Perugia in PalaTrento in four sets, in 2013/2014 when it defeated Modena 3-1, in 2014/2015 when it won against Piacenza at the tie break, in 2015/2016 against Molfetta in the double match (3-0 in Puglia and 2-3 in PalaTrento) and in the last season when it eliminated Monza in three sets. Diatec Trentino won the competition three times: on January the 31st  2010 in Montecatini Terme thanks to the match won 3-1 against Cuneo during the final, on February the 19th 2012 in PalaLottomatica in Rome thanks to a comeback victory (3-2) against Lube and on December the 30th 2012 winning 3-1 against Lube in the Forum of Assiago. The finals that Diatec Trentino played are 7 in total, including the ones it lost, against Cuneo (2010/2011), Modena (2014/2015) and Civitanova (2016/2017). In the other five participations the team was eliminated during the quarterfinals in 2002/2003 losing against Macerata, in 2003/2004 defeated by di Cuneo, in 2004/2005,  2007/2008 and 2008/2009 when it lost against Treviso.
So for Trentino Volley it will be the third match ever against Monza during this tournament; the first happened in this same phase in the edition of 2011, but against a different club, the one that was then called Acqua Paradiso (Montichiari already).
Diatec Trentino played nine times in total against Vero Volley, and it always won.
