ENERGY T.I. Diatec Trentino carries on, without significant problems, in her European race in the 2015 CEV Cup, riding out also the Craiova hurdle. After the boding 3-0 victory obtained in Romania nine days ago, in the away match, all the yellow-blues needed to pass the third round of the continental cup was to win just two sets in today’s game. But even after nailing this result, Stoytchev’s team confidently carried on their own way, and after leaving one set to their opponents, forced a K.O. onto the Romanians for 3-1 in the Quarter-Finals home game.
In this way Trentino Volley is promoted to the Challenge Round of the championship, where it will face, next March, what can be considered the hardest task up to now of it’s international season: in other words a group of teams arriving from the Champions League. The name of it’s opponent, though, won’t be known for about another week, when this phase of rounds of the most important continental cup for clubs will be over.
Tonight’s match confirmed the different calibre of the two teams (technical, tactical and physical), already emerged quite clearly during the away game, when Birarelli and his mates managed to impose themselves without much difficulty, despite the few hours’ rest after the Final Four game in Coppa Italia. With Giannelli confirmed as one of the regular 6 players, Stoytchev’s team did not encounter many difficulties in imposing their game in the first two sets, during which Burgsthaler (best mvp in the end with 10 points, 4 of which as block, and an 86% in the first set), and Kaziyski (300th game wearing the yellow-blue shirt, celebrated with 14 points and 4 aces), played an important role. After struggling in the third set, the yellow-blues woke up again in the fourth one, trusting on Lanza (14 points with 72%) and on the reborn Nelli who, entering in place of Nemec, had some difficulties in the central part of the set, but was much more convincing in the last period.
