The great volley of the UnipolSai Super League came back to PalaTrento, just after five months after the last time (April 25th, championship semi-final against Modena) and this was lucky and favourable for the yellow-blue team. By winning 3-0 against Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia, Diatec Trentino earned immediately the first place together with other six teams, giving to Angelo Lorenzetti the first satisfaction on the Trentino Volley’s bench.
Among the protagonists of this success there was the middle hitter Daniele Mazzone, who repaid the trust given him again by the new coach with blocks and first sets (4 out of 5, 80%). The start of the season was certainly positive for him, according to the 27 points (with 7 blocks and 3 aces) he realized in the first three official matches. “I’m glad of the success and obviously because I was ready – stated the Piedmontese in zone 3, second experience in Trento for him - . In this last match, I felt big incentives thanks to the possibility of alternating two types of service. During the last week, I practiced again the powerful jumping service, a kind of hitting service I hadn’t been using for some years, and the result was favourable. Obtaining a victory against Vibo Valentia was very important, even if it meant not playing very well. Actually, we didn’t play very well, but we made a good job winning the first set, which led us to a favourable outcome. The different efficiency in the side out phase was crucial, because Tonno Callipo seemed to have some problems more than we had, while they have a great service”.
From Tuesday October 4th , Diatec Trentino will train at PalaTrento to prepare for the first away game of Super League, scheduled on Sunday October 9th on the court of the new promoted Biosì Indexa Sora where Mazzone will be the ex in charge (he played in Lazio in the 2012/13). In the run up of the match in the province of Frosinone ( it will start at 6 p.m. – live on Radio Dolomiti and www.sportube.tv), the team will play on Thursday evening in Bolzano an international test match against the vice champions of Germany VfB Friedricshafen at PalaResia at 8 p.m. . An event organized by Comune di Bolzano and Sport Team Sudtirol to celebrate Simone Giannelli, for the first time protagonist of a match of such level in its home city.
